The Dodge Intrepid is done. Time for a new car.

This car has been faithful since I bought it back in early 07its a 95 with the bullet proof 3.3 V6 and it came to me with 98k on it and as of today it has 146k. Drove it to work each day and back through some of the worst weather Colorado has thrown my way and sadly last weekend I got in the car to start it up and it wouldn't start.

We replaced the Coil pack and it fired right up again. This morning was gonna go to a doctors appointment and the damn thing wouldn't start.:banana: It still won't start. Sadly at this moment my Camaro is the daily driver, I hate using it as a daily.

Its got a lot of leaks, the rack and pinon is going on it as well as a few other deals like it needs new tires all the way around, the paint looks like *** so the best thing for me to do is trade this car in for something newer and in much better condition. Donno what to get.

My budget is 10k. I will be paying $500 towards the payment to hurry and pay it off within a couple of years.

Its gotta be a car that I can drive year round through snow and rain so AWD or 4WD a must, don't mind FWD, RWD is out of the question here. Its gotta have decent gas mileage. It must seat 5 people. most important its gonna be reliable and its gotta be at least 2000 and up.

My thoughts have been to buy a Tacoma crew cab but those are extremely expensive. My brother insists I buy a Dodge Charger or 300C, if I do its gonna be a V6 model used.

I wouldn't mind a GTP or an Impala either.

I hate choosing daily drivers cause normally I think "Honda Accord" or "Kia"

Whats your daily drivers? What would you recommend?

My grocery getter/family hauler is a 2006 Expedition XLT, but I doubt you'll find that for 10 grand or under. Perhaps get an older expedition. I love it. The Triton engines are very hard working and strong.

My daily driver is a 2006 Buick LaCrosse CXL. I bought it with 54k on the clock and now pushing 70k. I have not had one problem out of this car. It is comfortable, quiet and has a decent amount of power. I also get mid 20's mpg.

My previous daily driver was a 2001 Buick Century Custom, 3.1 auto. The only problem I had with that car was a blown intake gasket which is normal from what I understand.

Best bang for your buck, you can't go wrong with a Buick. The quality is amazing.

replace the ballast resistor.. its like $5, and i bet it will start.. had the same problem in a chrysler before.. it was my fathers business car, they threw over $4000 into it buying new coils, ecm's, everything. my father went to a chrysler dealer, and sold him the resistor and it started up and was flawless.

too bad the trans blew up.

Second. My daily is a '95 Park Avenue Ultra. It's running over 140k and still runs like a top. Very comfortable, well built machines, Buicks. I just got back from a 300 mile trip and calculated 30.3 mpg. (that's with the L67 supercharged)

I'm considering on a Buick myself. They are all over the place here and dirt cheap. With a lot of the Military getting ready to deploy I may consider buying one.

Don't rule out Oldsmobile either. Buick's and Oldsmobile's are dirt cheap for a low mileage car. It isn't impossible to find one that has been senior owned and cared for.

I bought a purple '93 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Royal a few years back for $1,400 cash and drove it as a beater. 98k on the clock, 1 owner, all documents, I ran the hell out of that thing and traded it in on the '01 Century.

its really easy.

i had the same exact problem, the car only started when it wanted to. paid $120 to tow it home (this was 10 years ago) and the damn car started when it got off the tow truck. i tried for 4 hours to get it started and it would just sit there and crank

I am in the same boat here too. My '96 daily driver has been a godsend to me, just basic maintenance is needed. I dont thrash it like some would but I have been very heavy on it during my morning commutes due to the slow azz drivers in the passing lane. I hate cellphone drivers.

Anyways. I know this car inside and out and it's treated me very well. Gotta love the V6! :bowdown: @ 312,000

X2 , on the Buicks, my Dad has a 05' Buick Lasabre and it rides so smooth and gets great gas mileage, not bad for a 4000LB car, hasn't had a problem with it in 5 years and just needed new tires and thats all. I like the load leveling system on it, pretty cool.

I got the Dodge back up and running again. It appears i'm having some electrical issue.

It runs fine but sometimes in the morning it won't run at all so i'm getting ready to dump in $500 on service to see if thats what it needs and hopefully keep the car for another year.

Meanwhile I'am in the market for a Ford Ranger like a used 90's Ranger for the winter time.;)

did you replace the ballast resistor like i said?

im still betting thats the problem... its only like a $20 part, no need to spend $500 getting it diagnosed
