Re: Religion VS America
This is slightly off topic, but REGARDLESS of what you may have experienced, its VERY VERY VERY difficult to determine someones mind and actions. Just because you would react one way to a situation, doesn't mean another person would act the SAME way in the same situation. Its ignorant to assume so. So lets play this scenario out...
You are in the service. You see this crackhead from Westboro Baptist Church, you beat his ***. He in turn has you arrested for atleast battery, and at most an assault charge, a felony. Whatever branch of service will then discharge you dishonorably due to a possible felony conviction, in which you will lose whatever you had coming to you for your work in the service. But not only do you dishonor yourself, you dishonor the service with your act, in turn, dishonoring and putting to shame the same people you "THOUGHT" you were honoring by beating this guys ***. All you would have done is put shame upon the very souls that have served this country, effectively doing the same damage as this guy from Westboro, all because you couldn't keep your emotions in check.
My guess is, without asking, you're enlisted. From all the officers I have met in the 4 branches, NONE of them would have even mentioned such acts upon another for their freedom of speech, regardless of how horrible such said speech is.
Best thing you could EVER do for your friends lost in war, and for yourself, is to IGNORE IT. These people, as terribly skewed their grasp of reality is, have a right to free speech without harassment from an entity of the government (in this instance, harrassment from an enlisted serviceman). Its what you agreed to fight for, this is what you accepted. Threatening and harassing these individuals defies the very reason why you are fighting a war, defies our democracy, and defies the constitution you signed a contract to protect.
To summarize, it really pisses me off to hear that someone else would react the same way about something that you would. Get fuct. You honestly have no idea how the next person would react, its absurd to think you know EXACTLY what that individual will do.
