  • back surgery finally , I hope.LOL

Saw the Orthopedic Surgern this morning for my lower back, looks like their going to have to go through my stomach and my back to put plates on both sides of my spine to hold it in place. No more going through metal scanners.LOL Down sides are since they go through the stomach I will lose the ablitlity to have kids, unless I give to a sperm bank before hand and they keep it until needed if i get married again. Also my heart could be a very big risk , could have another stroke or die during surgery, since theres a 4mm hole through my heart which has made it enlarged on the right side causing COPD disease. its going to take about 2 months to get everything cleared, blood tests, MRI's and Dr.s lined up to to the operation since they need 2 surgical Dr.s he was saying since one has to do the first cut. My upper back is something different he said and will show up when they do the MRI. So I'll keep you guys up dated, when I go in. But for know I'm going to try and finish my car with the heads and double roller etc. Also the turbo up and going. Just in case,LOL I want to ride in this beast when its done and not get short cutted and die or be paralyized and not beable to drive it. Haha

I can't believe you still remember that A/C matt. LOL I've only used that 14,000 btu A/C once but theres a Cooler in the gargae now and next year I'm planning on adding the A/C unit next to it, I know my ex-wife wasn't gettting it. LOL I like the garage, it will be a nice big work shop. I'm buying the house next year from my Mom & Dad for 100K , 50,000 cash and gettting a loan for 50K. So my payments shall be low. Plus they pay off their retirement home up north and bank 70K. So we all make out well. Anyone know how much a sperm bank costs off hand, they gave me some #'s , that I'm going to call tomorrow?

Good luck, Steve. I'll keep you in my prayers and hope all goes smooth for you.

But this is the first time I've ever heard of a back surgery through the abdomen.

Do you have any current pics of your back?

When I injured my back the doctors took xrays of it and that's when I found out I had a slight scoliosis on my spine. My herniated disk, 2 of them really showed. That's why I don't do deep squats and deadlifts anymore.

                        Re: back surgery finally , I hope.LOL

Edgar , they found my back problem when they did a MRI/X-rays in 07' of my back about 6 months after my stroke. It turned out to be a birth defect where I'm missing 2 supporting bones in the S1,L4,L5 area where its letting my lower spine move in/out of place. Just happened becuase of the stroke and me walking different, running and working out after the stroke caused the birth defect to progress. I never had back problems ever until after the stroke. Went through a total of 4 law enforcement training academies , taught at 2 academies, also did free weights when lifting. I use to lift 240 LBS military press 10 reps, bench 315LBS 10 reps and still run the mile and a half in 12 mins., weighing 280lbs. When I went yesterday they did X-rays and had my MRI's sent over from Mayo Hospital. I could only do the back part , but would take a chance of it not holding since how low it is on the spine, so the only way to be sure it will hold is to go from the front and the back, then plate them together with screws. He said my back would of eventualy would of went out even if I didn't have the stroke ,maybe in my 40's or 50's depending on my activity level. But since the stroke it through off my walking patteren and me working out and running after the stroke increased the spine movement and deteriation of my lower back. They will look at my T-11 and T12 when I have another MRI before my surgery to see whats wrong there. But I think I'm not going to do the sperm bank , maybe I'm not meant to have kids.

That's pretty workout there. Those are good weights too. My coworker's husband who was a cop ended up on disability because of the same reason as you. He was born with a bad back but didn't know it. It wasn't until he tackled one of the suspects that he hurt himself. After the xrays it showed that he needed his t-11 and t-12 repaired. After that surgery he was never able to go back to work.

Hey, don't give up on kids yet. You got to have one in order to pass your camaro too.

Thanks guys , Edgar I hope the T-11 and T-12 are minor, the S-1, T-4,and T-5 will be the main ones I'm looking at getting done. I'm sure I'll be posting even more when I can't walk for awhile and will be on bed rest. I know I should have a in home nurse come buy and check on me and the wounds since their cutting me in half. Finally went for a drive today to Prescott, longest drive with the GTS touring seats and they are great for a 4 hour drive , the memory foam is relaxing, car ran extremely well cruised about 90-100 MPH some of the way, since the 3.73's I don't like going over 3000 RPMS for verry long, speed limit is 75 MPH, thses people that go up the hills I felt sorry for I just flashed by them, found out in 112 degree weather my cars temp runs about 221 and in 80 degree temp it runs about 180 degrees. I went to a gun shop that sells in bulk, bought a double barral shotgun side by side 20"s long(for my Dad), thats a mean looking gun, everyone in the shop had to come and check it out, LOL then bought a .308 Centurty semi-auto, and about 500 RDs. of ammo. and 5-20 rd. mags for it and some more shotgun shells spent about a grand, What suck was my hands were sore from driving and I couldn't write where they could make out some of the words on the app so it took me 4 times to fill the paperwok out, I was get frustrating and about to leave but decided I had driven all this way might as well trry again and I finally got some good writing done on it, cleared me in 2 mins. Since I've already been certify to carry since I was 22 years old ,so 14 years. Pretty good day but was very tired haven't did that much actitivty for about 5 months.
