Looking at a low mileage(79000) car today for possible purchase for my son. 2001 hardtop, with all options minus Monsoon and leather. Are there any model year specific issues that I need to be aware of?
As a prospective vehicle buyer you should fill out this simple two-part questionnaire to guide yourself through the purchase of a used F-body.
1) Is it a Camaro? (Y/N) __
If you answered "yes" to question 1, proceed with questions 2 and 3:
2) Why do you hate America? _______________
3) What did Pontiac ever do to you? ______________
4) Are you happy that Pontiac went out of business because nobody bought their quality affordable cars, thus signaling the end of the Firebird and GTO, arguably two of the greatest sports cars to ever grace our blessed country? (This is a rhetorical question. Simply fill in the blank with how this makes you feel, e.g. sad/guilty/ashamed) _____________

(Yeah... I can't sleep...)
I currently own 2 pontiacs........1998 firebird convertible and 2006 Grand Prix GXP
Went to look at it yesterday, and of course its not as good as I was told. Mostly cosmetic with lots of paint chips and a very large crease in the passsenger rear quarter.
My guess is at least $1500 in bodywork and paint. Will keep looking for my boy!

Everyone knows that camaros are cooler than firebirds. Thus, the camaro lives on. Enough said. :)

yea quarter panel work sucks, did some of that and it is impossible to get it to come out perfect, I mean it is a ton of work but can be done to make it look good if you have the time.
I remember how my dad wanted to buy a 1988 Trans Am for my brother during his high school year, but when he saw the cost of insurance he got him a Toyota Corolla instead.
Still trying to find oil leak on my Camaro, it’s a tough one. I think it is the oil pressure sender myself. Leaking when raving and going into boost....
