What do the oval bumper stickers mean?

Lately I have been seeing more and more cars with the small, oval, white bumper or window stickers that have black printed initials such as "SPK" or "SK" or whatever letter on the back. What do they mean?? I don't get it.

There abbreviations for colleges, states, or whatever.

Most likely fraternities. If I were to get one, it'd be this one because I'm in Simga Phi Epsilon.

Usually they denote locations visited by the person. I've never heard of them referring to fraternities, but it doesn't surprise me. I do know, however, that the trend started with OBX stickers in the United States but is a slight knock-off of stickers used in Europe to show which country the vehicle was registered in. In the US they're just souvenirs.



Many other states and tourist hot-spots have since jumped on the bandwagon, giving visitors a way to show off where they've been. I notice nowadays so many different places and groups have made these stickers that it's impossible to know what they stand for unless you, yourself, have been to that place or affiliate with that group.

That might be cool do have one custom made to say "CV6", for this site. Anyone interested? My friend works at the vinyl shop and can make anything cheap.

In Europe we used to get them when we took ferries around to different countries. As others have said, here in the States its just showing off whatever trashy vacation place you go to or whatever.

They were sold in Iraq and Afghanistan when I was there. Iraq being IRQ and Afghanistan being AFG.
