  • Newbie to site

    Hi all,

Found this site while looking for help with my 99 Camaro, my daily driver. I spun a bearing (I think) when I was about 4 hours from home, I lost all my oil out of the rear main seal on a major highway @ 85 mph. Long story shortened.... got it towed home ($750) and I'm almost ready to pull the motor, I have to rent a hoist but it should be out by saturday. It's been an experience to say the least.
I love my car, it has been very reliable up to this point, 116K miles, with only minor work done on it so far, window motor, coil pack, leaking plenum gasket, I can't complain.
My only real complaint is with GM dealerships, they just seem so freaking arrogant. When I got towed off the highway to the local dealership I waited 4 hours for them to tell me the I needed a new motor. I ask a salesman that I wanted to buy a new Camaro right there on the spot and wondered what they would give me for my car, he said "I wouldn't give you $10 for it". Well, that was the end of my discussion with them.
Thanks for the info I have gathered so far and hopefully I will be able to help out a fellow F-Body memeber soon.

Welcome to the site. When you get ready to pull the engine and tear it down feel free to start a new thread in the advanced engine section so we can watch the progress and maybe help out. Any pics of your ride?

Welcome and good luck with the swap.

Looks like that Jack A$$ lost a sale.

If it were me selling cars for a living I would have offered you 1000.00- 1500.00 off.

I'm having a local machine shop do the work for me, the owner is a friend and he does awesome work. I know I have some pictures of the car somewhere. I have been taking pictures of the wiring harness while I'm disconnecting things so I can put it back in the same places. I'm not used to cars with so many wires, sensors and stuff.

Wow. Just priced wiring harness this evening and if I was looking at the right thing (Autoclone calls it the Performance wiring Harness or Chasis wiring) you have guts! Dadgum! Good luck. Seems really complicated to me. And the price? Yikes.
