Got pulled over in the 'maro back in august one night after I had gotten off of work and met up with the fellas to play some pool and have a beer, very low key night. Same jack@ss cop that gives all the locals hell and gets his rocks off on screwing people, so I expected trouble. Long story short, I had already closed my cutout, had the windows down, and he pulls me over for "speeding", in which I told him I saw him coming a long ways away and was doing 6mph over the limit, so he drops that right off and asks me to cut on my halos --- then comes back with an illegal equipment ticket. I step out and politely dispute the offense and lay on some facts about halos/leds and luxury cars with them from factory (including the new camaro itself), in which he proceeds to tell me that he would pull over "every bmw/audi/camaro/luxury car with similar lights even from factory" :bs: total shenanigans i say.

I brought all my facts to court today and the judge swears me in to testify, so I lay out the law verbatim which clearly states the equipment is legal as long as it meets or exceeds SAE or DOT certification standards, which the ccfl dual halos do, and also that they were purchased and installed by a certified dealership (they were replaced bc of the accident), and I had just passed my VA state inspection. The cop tried to tell the judge that "each led and halo counts as an accessory light and could be viewed as it's own headlight", to which I laid out facts about audi producing all LED headlights which are approved from manufacturing and photographic evidence of all the varieties of bmw/benz/camaro/etc with halos and LED lighting.

Court ruled not guilty --- he looked like a total fool and stuttered over his words while I piled on the facts. Point for the good guys.

Take it from me fellas, don't put up with people's sh!t.

Couldnt he be reported for things like this? It's not in his job description to be a d!ck head.

Good job Baller, I know in my Academy class i could tell who were going to be the d!cks and who were cool. Just like any job thiers always a prick or 2 on the job. But good job fighting it. Just like mine almost 2 years ago I admitted speeding but not excessive speeding and got it reduced, the officer was a cadet from the class behind us we were 50 and she was in 51. + 1 for the Baller

The tickets that get thrown back go to the officers Captain or Cheif however big the Dept. is , then gets handed down to the Lt. and finally the Sgt. who goes over the ticket with the officer, they can send him back to the academy if he has had alot of tickets kicked backed to do a 8 hour class of report writing or they can just put it in his file, so if he gets to many complaints he can be fired.

                  Re: fought my ticket

Good job, judge was probably pretty impressed as that isn't the way people usually handle their cases.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe on the halo's it states the dot number does it not? I have them on mine and I thought I remembered seeing that when I installed them just because of the off chance of a BS ticket like you got.

                    Re: fought my ticket

Sounds like Indiana cops. State Trooper pulled me over in my '87 Firebird and claimed I passed him not wearing my seat belt. I had to explain that being 5'7 my shoulders are the same height as the door and of course it wouldn't look like my seat belt was fastened. After twenty minutes of standing my ground I was allowed to leave.

                    Congrats for winning the case.

thanks for the support fellas. and jtels - sadly i feel where you're coming from with the seat belt hassle and i'm just the opposite. i'm 6'6 and have my seat back as far as it will go in reclined a decent amount in the 'maro and cops always question if i'm wearing my seatbelt or not since i sit so far back and you can't see below my shoulder. in this particular stop i even went as far as to point out that i was still wearing my seatbelt and (overpolitely) asked if i could remove it to step out of the vehicle and dispute the headlight issue. his face was priceless haha.

he was very taken as a matter of fact. i had the virginia code cited verbatim, photographic evidence and support, my state inspection, sae/dot certification, installation receipts, and quite a few other documents to back my plea. the judge even stated he couldn't expect more preparation for a case like this to prove innocence. :D and you're exactly right, one of my closing points in testimony was that the headlights themselves have DOT stamping proving their certification. nail in the coffin.

thanks steve. and yeah, there are always the people in any job that give it a bad name and abuse their authority. this guy is in a league of his own even in that --- it's like he has a score to settle with the world and he finally found a way to take it out.

Now I know why you are called the Baller...good job.

I can't believe that something like that can get you in trouble in your state. So many ricers here are far more extreme than that.

I took off my tail light black cover. Not that because I got in trouble with the cops, even though my neighbor did with his tinted tail lights on his camaro and got a ticket for it. Knock on wood I haven't had a cop stop for that. I got stopped once for having a loud exhaust, but he never said anything about my tail lights. I took it off because when my bro. was driving my bird the brake lights weren't clear enough. I would hate to get rear ended because of this.
