    Re: fought my ticket

I would've loved to hear the closing remarks from both that retard cop and the judge.

I can't believe that something like that can get you in trouble in your state. So many ricers here are far more extreme than that.

I took off my tail light black cover. Not that because I got in trouble with the cops, even though my neighbor did with his tinted tail lights on his camaro and got a ticket for it. Knock on wood I haven't had a cop stop for that. I got stopped once for having a loud exhaust, but he never said anything about my tail lights. I took it off because when my bro. was driving my bird the brake lights weren't clear enough. I would hate to get rear ended because of this.
haha thanks thor, i'm the kind of guy that fights for what's right, and i came out swingin on this one. sadly i know this cop is the kind of person who will literally seek me out and be watching for any mistake i possibly make in order to get me pulled over again --- so i'll be keeping an eye out. and it's sad that i cant just cruise around without worrying about being hassled when there are idiots out actually looking for trouble that go unnoticed. i've got my tails tinted pretty dark as well and a very loud full exhaust, so i tread carefully around town ;)

my old man always told me if i'm gonna do something, do my homework and get it done right haha :work: this guy expected me to just lay down and take it, he even tried throwing in stuff about me speeding (wooo 6 mph over! arrest me please ) saying that i was really going 12 over and embellishing the story once he saw how prepared i was with facts. and the judge even looked at me in disbelief how punctual and fact bearing i presented my defense, because i left not a single loop hole to find.

Bravo! Glad to see you got your way in the court.

I personally fought a similar case like this in Connecticut with my '83 Trans Am, it was for a ticket for a loud exhaust and the female cop did not have her noise decibel gun. Without hesitation I signed it 'Not Guilty'. When I did show up she had that set on kill confident look on herself and I returned eyeballing her physical attributes; 34 24 36 and so on.

When it was time to face the judge, I laid down pages of paperwork arsenal and prepared in front of the judge documentation that my Gale Banks exhaust catback was 50 state legal and asked why the female cop didn't bend over and peek to look under my T/A. She said the car was too loud and looked illegal by the exhaust tips but never produced a noise decibel gun reading to justify her pulling me over even while a loud obnoxious straight piped Harley whipped by us at the time. The judge looked at me and said " You're ready for a fight arent ya?" To that I said yes and he dismissed my ticket over the apparent rookie cop inexperience to follow routine guidelines.

Fortunately we have aftermarket companies who know each state is trying to introduce bills to cash in on our older cars or try to make them extinct.

SEMA is also your best friend. Good link to educate yourself for the next smarty pants cop.
