  • Thinking about trading-up..

.. or down depending on how you look at it. With the Buick being traded-in for my wife's Civic and cutting my losses on the Formula, I'm thinking about selling or trading in my Camaro.

My choices are an '00-02 LS1 Camaro, Trans Am, Formula, or '00-01 Honda Prelude SH. I don't want anything older than 2000 unless it's a steal. I enjoyed driving my friends Prelude a few years ago and have wanted to own one ever since.

I don't want the hassle of selling my car outright simply because I don't want to deal with people. If I trade it in I'd be lucky to get an offer of $2,500-3,000. So.. I'm kind of at a loss on what to do.

I think you will have to just deal with people and get some cash for the ride.
    Wait, Is that a V6 or V8?

I've thought about this before. But think of it this way, even after your trade in you will probably be stuck with another car payment for whatever you trade the Camaro in for.

Also, won't you have another payment for whatever your wife is getting?

Our cars may have problems, but at least its not another car payment.

Pretty big difference between a Prelude and an LS1 car... I'd think you'd only be disappointed with a 5th gen Prelude at this point. While VTEC and higher revs are nice, those things are pretty portly for a Honda. I wasn't too impressed with the handling of the few I've gotten to drive either. But maybe that's just me.

Either way, I'd also say go with whichever leaves you with the least painful car payments.

After the trade-in with the Buick for the Civic Si, we have roughly $4,400 in payments to make over the next 24 months. I'll pay it off in less than a year hopefully. I own the Camaro outright and taking on another car payment isn't a big concern as long as its less than $250/mo.

The acceleration of the Predlude leaves a lot to be desired, but the car was a blast to drive around corners and windy roads.. unlike the Camaro where it feels like the *** end will come out from behind ya. So to be quite honest I'm not sure what I want to do..

Suspension mods will make that *** end problem better. :)

            Just a thought.

Stay with an f-body man forget that vtec sh!t, and like red&black said suspension mods will improve that. Also, front wheel drive less power vs an LS1 car, of course its going to grip corners well. But its up to you, just my 2 cents.

if you want to get rid of it, sell it privately. its a clean car and pretty much stock. Sell it or offer to trade it+cash for an ls1 CAMARO. (no birds...) and try to get an o2 they're the best, except for the cam... but they have better intakes.

dont go foreign! come one its an ls1. whiney 4cyl, front wheel drive, no torque. or that raw american muscle sound of that v8. crushing, throw you back in your seat acceleration. some suspension mods and that thing will be great compared to the prelude. honestly a no-brainer! :burn:

We just had our yellow '02 Cavalier LS Sport (with a spoiler) totalled out by State Farm. Thats why I traded in my Buick LaCrosse for her Civic.

You couldn't give me another Cavalier.. that car was a piece of crap before it even left the assembly line.
