    Re: Thinking about trading-up..

So I found a silver '01 Z28 automatic that is a couple hundred miles away. Only 4,700 original miles on the clock. I want to go look at it this weekend..

Just shy of $17,000. Financing will be the difficult part. With it being 9 years old I'm assuming that the same rules apply that my credit union has. Any vehicle older than 8 years has a 36 month maximum. 48 months I could wing it, but not at 36. 60 months would be more reasonable.

I cant say much for either car as I'm buying the best of both worlds; an awd dsm. Financing for a car with 17,000 miles on it should be no problem for a credit union. Ask about a 48 month term. The worst they could say is no.

That 2001 came out to $396/mo at 10.5%. Looks like I'm limited to a 2002 afterall. There is a really clean 2002 red Z28 on Autotrader that is located near Columbus, however the Z28 badges are missing. I don't like that.. it screams fleet car or repaint.. but who knows.

If I conduct a search for 2000-2002 LS1's within 200 miles of 45238 (Cincinnati), they are Anniversary Edition cars with $25,000 + price tags, convertibles, ragged out, high miles, modified to the point of no return, fishy looking, carfax is horrible, paint on door doesn't match the quarter panel, salesmen don't appear to know anything about the car and sound as if they're high and so on and so on..

There is a pretty SOM '02 Z28 in northern Alabama for $13,000! I just can't bring myself to drive that far and attempt a trade in. Knowing my luck something will go horribly wrong.

All of the clean, quality and reasonably priced LS1's are either in the south, east coast or west coast. No such thing exists in the midwest.

Amen to that. I was looking for a 2000-02 T/A for about six months and never found anything decently spectacular. Which is why I just did the swap.

If you're willing to come to OKC, here is an 02 Z28 for $8500.
