I'm in the market for a new laptop. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best brand or model to purchase? I'm looking at no more than $450.
I only use it for internet, music and saving pictures. No games or anything like that. My friend has had good luck with his Toshiba which is now three years old and still works like new. My other friend had an Acer that crapped out on him after 6 months of use.
I just got an asus for school, and so far I'm very happy it with it, I've had it since july. they make good computers and there pretty cheap. the guy at best buy said that they have been making parts for computers for like 20 years and now they make their own ones thats why their cheap, and good. good luck!
Remember laptops are pretty critical when someone says you get what you pay for, dont expect much
Wait, Is that a V6 or V8? 1990 Chevrolet C-K 1500 series 4.3L .. 5spd
1994 JDM Euno Roadster 1.8L 5spd Bolt Ons.. etc 2000 Camaro 3.8L Auto Bolt Ons..etc
Toshibas are definitely good laptops, I've had mine about 2.5 years now and the only real problem is that the volume knob only turns the volume up. I just click on the sound icon and use my mouse scroller to turn it up, no big deal. My sisters Toshiba is about 5 years old now and the only problem is that the battery only lasts like 20 minutes on a charge because it's so old. Toshiba has been consistently highest or among the highest rated on Consumer's Digest, so I'd say it's a safe bet.

I have a toshiba satellite, got it after high school in 2006 and I haven't had any problems with it. I'd say the battery lasts an hour at least on mine still. I definitely happy with it.
Looks like nothing but good things about Toshiba. The model that I'm looking at just came out this week according to the salesman at Best Buy. I believe it says "Satellite" on it and the price is $379.00
HP Compaq's and Toshiba are up there as the best, I got my HP refubished with 2 year warrranty for around $450 from Tigerdirect about 2 years ago now and still working great for what I paid. I just got a desk top finally about a month ago a refurbished Dell with a 4year warranty for $425 has just about everything Pro edition 3.2 GHZ , 4 MB ram, 500GB memory. But if you want to save stuff like movies, music and info get a extanal hard drive their like $80 and mine has 560 GB memory its been running for a year now and all is well with everything. I bought my middle brother a new Toshiba last year for $6?? becuase I thought he was finally going to use his Buiness degree but he back out, oh well. Also Hp has great printers, the offficejet series is great has wireless built in and just works great I bought one and bought my parents one for X-MAS 2 years ago and works outstanding. Good luck, I'm just giving my personal use of these and how well they have held up getting used everyday. Look a Tigerdirect though alot of great prices on anything electrical.

Considering myself and my family have had horrible customer service issues with Dell, they have lost my business.
I only wish more people felt the same way. I don't know how the customer service is with Toshiba, but hopefully I won't be speaking to people in India. No offense, but we need jobs here in America and CSR's who speak perfect English.
I have some laptops I could sell you Joe, they are Dells though lol. I work as a desktop tech so I could answer your questions and what not. Let me know if you are interested sir.
