I don't know much about car covers. I want something water proof, but I read that 100% water proof is bad because such a cover would trap moisture under itself and cause unnecessary rust. Is that true? Some cover manufacturers gloat about being "100% water proof" so... I dunno what to think. I'm also on kind of a budget. I don't want to spend $200 on a cover if I don't have to, but $30 covers look like cheap crap by comparison.
This cover would be used outdoors on my '98 firebird daily driver. The assigned parking spot behind my apartment is under a pine tree (sap, pine needles, bird crap) and I want to keep the car looking good without having to pay for a car wash every week. I'll be in NY through the worst parts of the winter so snow is also to be considered. Harsh direct sunlight isn't a concern since the spot is nice and shady.
Any advice or tips about covers is appreciated.
