I highly recommend this movie: Hachi: A Dog's Tale
It's actually inspired by a true story that took place in Japan, but it was adopted here in the US. It stars Richard Gere. It's a story base a dog and his relationship with his owner he meets everyday. It's one of the best animal movies I've seen. Highly recommend it.
It's not a theatre. It never made it there. So check it out from Netflix.
