Hawaii vacation, what to do?

My family is going to be going to Hawaii for vacation this winter, we've never been there before so we're pretty excited. But we're curious as to some of the things we should consider doing while down there. Any suggestions from people who have been there before or who have heard of fun things from other people?

Which island are you going to? I've done Big Island and Maui.

I pretty much went for the diving, but we still got around a little bit. It all depends on what you enjoy doing and where you will be.

Tell us which island you'll be on and we can give you more ideas.

I was in Kauai for a little over a week last time I went. Beaches were nice, but there was quite a bit of sharp volcanic rock at some of the beaches. Helicopter tour was really cool. Got to see some awesome scenery and remnants of the setup from the Jurassic Park movies.

Check out the scenery and trails. Lots of good food to try there too. Surfing or bodyboarding is good too. Take a tour out on the ocean and go diving. Lots of cool wildlife throughout.

A good helicopter ride around the island is nice. A drive around the island is nice too. Go to those lua and such. Hang at the beach till the sun goes down.

Yea my bad, I suppose I should've mentioned that. We'll be staying in a condo on the island Kauai.

haha Yea, I think my dad was looking at setting up a helicopter ride. That and doing an ATV tour is all we have planned so far. I'll be sure to spend much of the time just chilling on the beach, cause you really can't go wrong with that.

X2, I saw that when I was there and went to 3 Islands in 2 weeks , which I can't remember their names , I think Maui was pretty cool.

Yeah, if you're in Honolulu go to Pearl Harbor. You'll see the ship down there. You'll see how the oil and gas is still bubbling off those sunken ships, and it's been over 60 years now too and it's still doing that.

Also, if you're in that island go to the Pineapple Center. The fresh juice and pineapple chunks are divine. Take a ride on that train too.

Just be careful in Honolulu, because Honolulu is their L.A. version here in Calif. The natives there might take advantage of you.

Hawaii in general is pretty sketchy. I think there is a huge meth problem. I remember reading a newspaper when I was there and there was an article about drug addicts stealing people's dogs to sell them. Apparently it was/is a pretty big deal.

Of course, most people go to Hawaii and stay in the vacation spots, so none of this is an issue.

The nice thing about Hawaii is that there are a lot of different options. You can hike (interior of the islands pretty much), sit on the beach, dive, tour, etc. Just think about what you want to do for your vacation, and you should be able to do it!
