  • ls based v8?

i am trying to learn all i can about the ls based v8, lq4, lq9, so on and so forth. My main question is would the engines (up to the 6.2l) fit in the firebird using the ls1 k member? Would i be able to use the ls1 pcm to tune it? I want to know exactly what my options are, i want power.

just point me in the right direction.

    thanks ladies

They'll fit. Im not too familiar with the different wiring harnesses though. After the k-member and motor mounts you will have to switch to an f-body or corvette intake manifold. Use a corvette fuel rail if you want to keep the return fuel line. And swap to a f-body oil pan, oil pickup, accessories, trans and trans brace. I would probably use the pcm and wiring harness from the donor vehicle and splice sensors that dont plug right in as necessary. You'll have more luck doing your research on ls1tech. I cant remember which engine and year, but there is one of the LQ blocks that has a lip on the back of it that is supposed to make it almost impossible to bolt a flywheel to if your going manual.

Tech will answer a lot of your questions. Spend a couple hours reading in the hybrid/conversion subsection and anything that search will pull up.

Go with a LQ4, 6.0L, or LQ9 newer 05+ 6.0L has a bit more HP/TQ, but add a cam , headers, heads, and upper intake and your well over 400+ at the wheels on either engine.

          Re: ls based v8?

I totally wanna do a big v8 swap, either 6.0 or the 6.2.

Also mods, if you wanna move this to Gen tech feel free.
