    Re: What mods?

I recommend using the mod encyclopedia to learn about the mods(these mods generally apply to every car) then go on a forum like this one and do a search for the specific mod you want to do like letzride mentioned and after searching if you have any problems then post a new thread asking about it.

There also other forums that have a wealth of information blocked only by a search button:

      Re: What mods?

I'm already registered on all three of those, lurking the other two, mostly.
And the only local exhaust shops I've been able to find are on the verge of outrageous... The most trusted one is like 220+ parts for axle-back... I asked what it would be for a full system headers/cat/muffler of 2.75" pipes and he quoted me almost 2k....

Regular muffler shops just do cat backs for cars. I believe when letzride mentioned it, the shop was just installing a cat back exhaust for him.

Headers, cat, and a catback is probably around 1k give or take in parts alone depending where you go. Just get a cat back for now, and look around the forums for a used set of headers for your 3.8. Pacesetter ones are about 200 ish for the painted ones.

I believe they estimated about 2k due to the labor of the headers, the $200 something for the cat back isn't bad.

          Re: What mods?

Would I be better off getting the cut-out, and keeping stock cat-back or just getting a cat-back?? Because I like both ways... Loud with a early dump, and stock with a muffler...

            Re: What mods?

Go with a 3" exhaust from summit and have the exhaust shop weld it up , headers, Intake, LCA's, SFC, STB and then work on shock/ springs. Then rims, tires, more suspension mods and appearance.

              Re: What mods?

I saw some Pacesetters on ls1tech for 125... Looking into that pretty strongly, but much more than that is above my skills, and suspension stuff is beyond my knowledge right now. I was changing brakes/rotors last night and I could only identify sways, a-arms, steering links, and shocks/springs... I'm not the most knowledgeable yet... I'd rather wait on stuff like that until I know what I'm getting into. Got it all written down though xP

              Clarifying:
              LCA- lower control arms?
              SFC- Subframe connects?
              STB- shock tower brace?

Thats basicaly what I have, as I mentioned.

It be cheaper for sure. I'd still upgrade the size of the exhaust piping though from headers to cutout.

My guy made his own pipes and only had to order in the magnaflow muffler, and the sweet Z28 style tips...all this was included in the price...realistically, it doesnt take much effort for them to bend there own "I" pipe to connect from the cat to the axle piping...then it's just welding...takes this guy no time at all to weld....I bought my headers later and took it to him and I think he charged me 200-300$ to install them...cost me 50$ or so to install the high flow cat...and he made and installed a cutout for me for 40$ lol...

                    Re: What mods?

So you guys think some Pacesetter headers into a cut-out, with a better cat behind it would be pretty good? Or is the cat a waste of time?

It's not a waste to get a better than stock cat.

I was meaning a cat-delete or gut it and stuff. I don't have to run emissions so I don't need it..

You can go either way, if you gut the cat eventually you'll get an exhaust leak, as me and a few others have experienced.

So could I just cut it off, leave the o2 places and get a pipe to take it's place? With some headers and a cat-back?

                              @Docta,

I had a whole exhaust made at a local shop for $300. I already had the muffler though. They bent 3" pipe from headers to muffler to tips.

For the cat just get a pipe or a resonator in it's place. You can weld in a new bung (exhaust shops have em) and use it for a wideband later. For now you could plug it with a bolt or keep the post cat O2 sensor in it. You will need to delete the P0420 code via hptuners to avoid throwing the SES light.
