  • tinting my other ride

i've had this jimmy for about a year now and i'd like to tint the front two windows and possibly get the 6" strip on the windshield... i was just wondering if anybody had a good suggestion as to what percent tint to get for the two front windows?? could anybody photoshop different percents onto it for me? thanks in advance for any help!!

What do your local laws allow? I think 20% is perfect, dark, but not so dark it that it effects driving in places with no lighting

Local laws say 50% is the darkest legal tint, but I've had 25% on my car for two years with no problems

I just wanna make sure the tints are similiar enough between the privacy tint on the back windows too

Stock tint is usually right around 20%, so as close to that as possible will look the best if you can get away with it..

This is 20% on the back and 35% on the sides. The back, being almost directly in the sun, isn't very well illustrated, but the sides are a pretty good representation of 35% on a window of similar shape.

              Define most vehicles...

To be more specific, stock tint is usually between just over 20 to 28 or so pretty universally. It's definitely darker than 35%. Which is why 20% will usually match the best, unless a shade between the two is offered at the specific shop, around 25 ish.

In my experience at least.. Ive had 3 GM trucks that Ive had the front windows tinted to match the rears.

In all three cases, I had them tinted at 35%. At first glance they look perfectly matched front / rear... but after a closer look, the 35% was a smidge darker than the rear factory tint... (Due to sun fading im sure).

Ive done windows from 35% to 2.5%

My most recent truck, factory rear tint, 35% front.

Ok, well according to google, it looks like we're both right. My experience with stock tint is Ford and Chrysler products, of which I can say with confidence is darker than 35%. A google search showed that your sierra was apparently available in either 35 or 20 percent, probably on a state-by-state basis, so your truck must have the 35%. Google also said that his gen blazer had about 20% rears from the factory, and looking at the pictures, that sounds about right.

so if i were to get 15% or 25% how much of a difference would i noticed having the rear windows with 20%.... i'm not sure if the places i've been looking at carry 20%, but i know they have 15% and 25%

Well, like I said, what I found about the mid 90s blazers and jimmys said the stock stuff is 20%. Due to sun fade and general age, 25% would likely be the best match.
