Yeah, not looking for a debate really. Just want to know who got out to actually do it. I'll be honest, I never did until a couple elections ago, but Im glad I started. Voted Demo for all national offices, and Republican for all city and county offices, and Ind for Governor.

                  Re: Who voted?

                  I did not...

As I'm sure some of you guys know, I'm a fairly political person. Graduated with my B.A. in Political Science- International Relations, and politics have always interested me. Unfortunately I find local/national politics to be too....political. The negative propaganda is atrocious in my mind. The candidates spend far too much time slandering their opponents and making it extremely difficult to find where they actually stand on issues. I associate it with beauty pageant contestants saying they're for world peace. These people use blanket statements that are impossible to disagree with.

I really did want to vote, but all of the TV commercials and nightly phone calls got on my nerves. They made me not want to actually research the candidates, so I knew that my vote would have been uninformed if I had gone to the polls.

This makes sense to me. I feel like uninformed voters suck at life. People need to have an idea as to why they are voting for somebody IMO. So internet high five to you. Lol.

                      Re: Who voted?

"In reality, there is no such thing as not voting: you either vote by voting, or you vote by staying home and tacitly doubling the value of some Diehard's vote." - David Foster Wallace

Not voting also means you lose the right to complain about any decisions made by a government that you admittedly didn't care about today. It's like owning stock in a company. The CEO doesn't give a **** about your opinions of how the company should operate unless you own a part of it. Votes are essentially the same thing.

First thing when I got up this morning I voted. Everyone should vote. Doesn't matter which way you vote as long as you vote.

I simply don't have the conscience to vote for the incumbents in most situations. If I can help it, I won't vote for the career politician, regardless of what party they are. Better to have new republican blood in office than the same old democrat blood thats been in there the whole time. Should have seen me when I was voting on whether or not to keep the district judges, I probably pressed NO 50+ times, people were looking at me funny thinking I was playing some touchscreen video game.

The only career politician I ever voted for repeatedly was Richard Luger (surprisingly a republican senator from IN). HE was a pretty honorable man, and came from that old school type of conservatism. Other than that, if there's an office that doesn't have term limits, I tend to vote the other way. That and Chicago has SERIOUSLY hemorraged money for years....
