Didnt you win this car in a contest or something like that, or was that someone else?

I have been the only driver of my Firebird since it was new. It was a company car at first and when I left the company, I bought it from the company for $1 (plus income and payroll taxes on the fair market value of the car when the title transferred to me).

I don't remember, it has been a long time. If the fair market value was, say $20,000, then the taxes I would have paid would have been around $7000 (28% income tax plus 7.65% social security plus mediscare). The car was about 1.5 years old when I left the company.

Yeah keep the car... Firebirds will only go up in collectability and single-family cars are more appealing to buyers 20 or 30 yrs from now.

What??? What kind of company do you work for?

The companies I've worked for had Buicks, Saabs, and Kias.

Lucky dog you. I got mine brand new for 24k out the door. I was the first in my town to have a 98 Bird. Imagine the constant stares I got.
