  • So....

I've been looking at the idea of getting a faster car. My TSi is wonderful, but I definitely want something faster since I can officially afford it now. So I started looking / test driving a multitude of cars. I drove a few Z28s a couple T/As, a Mustang GT, a C4 'vette, a 300zxTT, and a Porsche 944 S2. All were quick, but just weren't...fun. I almost bought the 300zxTT, but then something more...interesting came along. Crazed by the DSM I already owned, I would up buying another...faster one. I just bought a '97 Eclipse GSX with a '91 6-bolt rebuilt engine with Wiseco pistons, floating pinroads, ARP head studs, 72lb Siemons injectors, Walbro fuel pump, Aeromotive fuel regulator, Garrett t3/t4 turbo swap running 16psi, Turbonetics cast exhaust manifold, Turbonetics wastegate, Greddy blow off valve, Yonaka front mount intercooler, 3" intake pipe, Magnaflow race core muffler, Megan 3" down pipe, and lowered on KYBs. I requested reciepts and a dyno sheet before I bought it. I got all the reciepts, all the installation documentation, and a dyno sheet the day after reading 347AWHP. It is...exhilarating and needs no further work or tuning. I got it all for $4500 and the kicker is that it only has 87k miles on it. Odo reads 86766 at the moment. Pics now, vids to come.

I have always thought that DSM stood for "Only to be Driven by Chicks." Oh well, if its fast its fast.

my buddy built a pretty slick turbo eclipse, i think it ran for 3 months before it took its first of many dumps on him. 9 or 10 grand later he gave up on them lol.

current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it

One of the fastest cars ive ever ridden in was a built eclipse, I was blown away by the power it had.. I think it was around 400hp if I remember.

ive seen some 10-11 sec 2nd gen eclipses that sound like rocket ships....those cars can make some serious power. I wish I got a ride in one:(

In my opinion, i don't see how you could say a t/a or z28 isn't fun... unless you were in an lt1 or something. the instant torque and the noise associated with it... to each his own though.

good call on the 300zx. from an engineering standpoint, i think they're fantastic. but that engine bay looks even more cramped than my 944 turbo's. I can't believe you didn't find the 944 fun.. did you hit any back roads with lots of turns and bends? I imagine the s2 would be a tad dull on a straight road.

You have to remember that this is Oklahoma...no fun roads around here. I've driven several ls1s and just can't find it in me to enjoy one anymore. The 944 was ok, but would be way to expensive in the long run.
