With the coming of christmas and thanksgiving break from school, i'm finally going to have a chance to get the camaro back on the road. spun rod bearing... was originally set on just getting an l26 and dropping it in. However, I've always wanted a v8. So do y'all think the value of the v6 and the price of a v8 (lq series) have dropped enough to make it more economically viable to swap rather than sell and buy a v8 car?
I'd be swapping from a bad l36+good t5 to a 5.3 or 6.0 truck motor + t56. A very extensive swap, I know. But a new v6 will be ~500-600 including breaking it down to put on new gaskets. And our cars only sell for ~3000 on a good day. So that's around 2500 or net profit from selling. Decent v8's range from 6 to 7.. so I'd have to fish out 3500 at least.
Would a t56, truck engine, v8 kmember, rear diff, radiator, ac, pcm, etc cost more or less than 3500? brother has a formy he's slowly modding, so there are a couple parts I could use from him. factory exhaust stuff, ls1 intake, etc.
