Re: just bought a new motor

I'm not sure how the tensioner looks, the motor hasn't been delivered yet. So back when I put my headers on, I had the driver side of the y pipe welded, and I had the y pipe welded to my cat. Is this gonna be a problem for dropping the motor, or do you guys think it'll fit through it. I would really like to have the heads on the motor when I r&r it.

Ok one more quick question. Is it ok to use the balancer that comes with the motor, or should I re use my ol one?

you can use the one that comes on the new(er) engine, no reason at all to change it.

you should use the one on the newer engine because it is already balanced with it...I noticed that my crank pulley on my old motor was different than my new one...my old one had very little rubber and it was in the middle of the pulley, it also had a counter balance...the new pulley didnt have a counter balance, and had a rubber seal and packing all the way around it everywhere...

Hey letzride, did you have to swap the front cover or are they the same?

I have 326,000 miles on my motor, now I'm curious if after all the parts swapping is done to the newer motor then its a plug and play deal? Vague question for sure but I'm crossing my fingers that mines gets me through this year and into Spring 2011 lol.
