So I was in the ER getting an EKG....

Wait, what the ****? Woke up this morning and my arm was numb. Kinda felt like I had just slept on it funny, but after about 3 hours, it didn't go away. Never got that "pins and needles" feeling. So, off to the ER we go. Got right in, they did the physical tests, squeeze, lift, push, and everything was ok. Normal blood pressure, no pain, nothing. Then they bring in the EKG and I'm like WTF mate?!?! "Oh, we just wanted to make sure you're not having a heart attack". Surprisingly enough, that came back perfectly fine. So, to sum it up, they gave me an EKG to diagnose that I have carpal tunnel. lol. Freaked me the F out.

Yeah they do that as a precaution. My Dad wasn't feeling up to par so they ran some tests on him and told him (through an EKG) that he had, had a heart attack.

But the pins and needles never came!!! I'm glad it isn't either, but it is how I make my living, so we'll see how work goes tomorrow.

Yeah, but I'm probably nowhere near as old as your dad, and I'm pretty regularly active. So I would have been really surprised if it was a heart attack. I didn't have any sort of chest pain or anything that would lead them to believe it may even be heart related.

Speaking of ER mysteries... A couple years ago I was awoken in the early morning by severe pain in both my arms and legs, centered around the joints but spread out among my calves & thighs, forearms & biceps. The pain was symmetrical to each limb, and felt muscular (the pain wasn't on the skin surface). I tried to sleep it off, but pain was so severe I had to go to the ER (luckily my dad had was in the area and took me to the ER-- that saved the expense of an ambulance). 4 hours after I'd been awoken by the pain, the pain wore off and the docs still have no idea what caused it. I've had two blood tests since it happened, both came back clear.

It was the weirdest, scariest pain I've ever felt.


On topic... Carpel tunnel sucks. Sometimes you'll be sitting there, adjust your arm, and realize the outer half of your hand is completely numb. If yours is also caused by computer use, try positioning yourself so your forearms are parallel to the ground, level with the tops of your hands. Do the same for your mouse hand, and free up plenty of room for your arm. Slide your elbow up onto the table, even.

Did the doc tell you to sleep with a wrist brace?

I could have just told the doctors you jerk off too much, would have saved you the time on an EKG.:D Would explain the carpal tunnel too....
