  • Well drove a Ls1

I helped my sis buy a 99 Z28 its in decent condition but when we picked it up the car was not running my dad didn't think the price was good. The guy said it was the fuel pump that was bad and need replacing he even gave me the fuel pump. so brought it home installed it and test drove the car and I have to say that car makes my turbo V6 seem like it has no power at all. If I gun it from a dead stop in the Z I can spin the tires till 4th gear and in my sixxer i can only do it till 2nd gear. And my sixxer is only on 5psi~ .

My dad and I were watching Mecum Auto Auctions on TV last night. They sold a 2000 Z28, fully loaded w/ t-tops, for $7k and my dad bout had a heart attack. He's 62 and finally hitting his mid-life crisis of wanting to buy a muscle car. Thanks to my mom he's on a tight budget, but he had no idea he could get such a powerful car for under 10k (he wouldn't take my word for it). Long story short, he wants a 4th gen Z28 or SS, and he wants it bad.

I've never driven an LS car, and neither has he. Glad to hear they're a ton of fun!

You need to be at 9psi to beat an LS1. 5psi with your turbo will only net you 240-250rwhp. That's LT1 territory. With 9psi you'd be at 320-330rwhp.

the 2010 Camaro SS I drove early this year definately impressed me.

        I love my LS1 :burn:

Not trying to rub it in lol, I loved my 3.8's too!

You got lucky as almost all six speeds have issues. Go and see the clutch section on Tech. Hell I cant even spin 1st :(
It will be fixed soon though.

Well I did sell my last 3.8 because I promised the woman that if I could get the LS1 that all the money from the sale would go back into the bank. Soo off it went.

I couldnt put my car up for a whole season, I think Id loose it. But I understand you guys can get some hell weather.

My brother has owned quiet a few 6 speeders none of them had clutch issues. And for some reason I can't boost past 5psi~ I tried everything and inspected everything.

Damn hes lucky! Read everyone talking about how the stock master does not flow enough fluid. Every goes to Tick or LS2 flywheel LS7 clutch. Ill do the latter...

nice, i picked up my 00 z28 t-tops, A4, for 54k miles, for 7k. 1 lady owners, then another owner had it for only like 2k miles. Car has 2.73s unfortunately, but still will light up 275 g-forces from 35-40 roll

selling my 3.8 bird was the best choice i ever made, had lots of little issues that pissed me off every day

Its not that big of an issue with 6 speed guys but it is an issue. GM change part numbers on the hydraulic clutch system sometime in the middle. I think the v6ers had a similar issue, as they used nearly identical parts. I remember something about it when I had clutch issues on my last 2000 camaro.

I think I remember the LS1 and sixer masters being the same part number. I should clarify that the clutch system still works fine. You just cant drive the piss out of it without it going to the floor (and eventually grinding gear). It just doesnt push enough fluid; for some that OK.

Got ya but you can always drill the line so it can flow better
