called Chevrolet about 6 years ago and said "i want to slam my 4wd truck to the ground, whats the best way to do it?"
First of all, My question is why would you call 'chevrolet' and ask them how to radically modify your vehicle, when all they do is produce stock vehicles, and supply OEM parts, and frown upon vehicle modification...
GM has nothing to do with producing a vehicle that will lay frame...
tore his truck down. inverted 90% of the drive train and sent pics of him launchin a slammed 4wd truck (in 4wd) at the track with nitrous going 13.2 at around 105mph (he even shifted into 2wd midway through the run....
The plans as of right now, a basic over veiw:
2001 Silverado 2wd regular cab shortbed
Doesnt look very 4wd to me Nor does his entire build thread mention anything about building a 4wd truck from the beginning, or running the track and doing 4wd launches
Re: My Buddy Nick's Absolutely insane custom build...
Id love to see him cram a differential, driveshaft, and axle shafts under here. Its obviously not possible to lay frame with 4wd in this set up pictured above.
Re: My Buddy Nick's Absolutely insane custom build...
let me ask you this...
why would I lie? I grew up with this kid and I have been in this truck numerous times when it was essentially stock back in 2004 and it had nothing but wheels and a dynomax muffler. It was his DD and it was 4wd. It was the auto 4.8L 4WD reg cab short bed.
After modifying it there was a LQ9 6.0 in it, his bottle of spray was under the passenger seat and he had dyed/painted his interior all black.
THIS- "The plans as of right now, a basic over veiw: 2001 Silverado 2wd regular cab shortbed"
is his overview of after he decided to tear it down. just wait.
oh and FYI notice how EVERY one of the pics u just pulled up was AFTER the teardown and the mock frame/engine were there. He had to C-notch the 4wd frame to drop it as low as he did. There is not 1 pic of the original 4wd chassis there.
Okay, so if I found pics of his old frame, not his 'new custom 2wd frame' that would be crazy, right?!
OMG! What do you know.....
Re: My Buddy Nick's Absolutely insane custom build...
look im not trying to get into a pissing contest. the truck started out life as a 4wd 4.8L single cab short bed. he slammed it. then tore the whoel thing down and converted it to 2wd whether it was a modifed 4wd frame or used 2wd frame i forget. he has has over 4 frames in this truck as it sits today.
ill get some stuff pics of the 4wd later.
Guido? Im Greek. I dont fist pump? all I am to this board is a name and white camaro where the hell did you deduct all of that from?
Re: My Buddy Nick's Absolutely insane custom build...
hahahaha. wow Strt!
Wait, Is that a V6 or V8? 1990 Chevrolet C-K 1500 series 4.3L .. 5spd
1994 JDM Euno Roadster 1.8L 5spd Bolt Ons.. etc 2000 Camaro 3.8L Auto Bolt Ons..etc
According to your link you posted, it was originally 4wd in the very beginning... your story just wasnt adding up.
not being defensive..now im just confused lol...how was my story not adding up? I always said it was a 4wd truck. it was for a long time too. and he used to launch it at the track in 4wd with nitrous. NO one believes him or me till they see pics n stuff

Still trying to find oil leak on my Camaro, it’s a tough one. I think it is the oil pressure sender myself. Leaking when raving and going into boost....
