Wow, that's seriously awesome. That's my favorite body style chevy's thus far, and even though I'm not so much a street truck guy, I've got some serious respect for that. That's the kind of project I'd love to have the time and money to take on. What motor is going in there to spin those massive rear tires?

at least no one will know his truck better then him seeing as how be built it from the ground up, pretty crazy aptitude and as mentioned, probably has some good coin.

Re: My Buddy Nick's Absolutely insane custom build...

when all is said and done he will have abour $40k in parts alone...and that INCLUDES the discounts he gets from sponsors. Willwood is sponsoring his brakes which are still going to cost a pretty penny. He literally saves/spends EVERY penny he earns on this truck. He still has a life but working 50+ hours a week then dedicates about 40+ to the truck as well.

Here is how is started...He told called Chevrolet about 6 years ago and said "i want to slam my 4wd truck to the ground, whats the best way to do it?" Chevy said "it cant be done, sorry buddy" he said "ok lol" went back. tore his truck down. inverted 90% of the drive train and sent pics of him launchin a slammed 4wd truck (in 4wd) at the track with nitrous going 13.2 at around 105mph (he even shifted into 2wd midway through the run....he decided 13.2 wasnt fast enough and decided he wanted to be the first slammed truck on an air bag suspension in the 10s in the world. That is where you see what is happening now.

Notice the custom/fabricated EVERYthing. Even the tubs in the bed of the truck were meant to look like they COULD be stock. He is aiming to build the supercar truck that Chevy never did (but should). He really wants a truck that looks like it could potentially be a very SLIGHTLY modified SS model. I hope you see the attention to detail he has put into that aspect.

As for the motor. 4.8 wasnt big enough. 5.3 wasnt big enough. 6.0 wasnt big enough...

He never gives anyone a straight answer as his ideas are always changing...but I think he is going for the 8.1L out of the Avalanche that will get a completely custom Turbo setup. (I can only imagine what that is going to look like based on his other stuff, you probably wont be able to see anything). I kno he will have a MINIMUM of 800+ hp. I will keep you all posted.

His dad owns a fence company. He started off doing that when he was like 12 and would do minor car repairs on the side (yes at 12) the roles have kinda of flip flopped to where now he just got his own shop with a lift. He didnt have a lift until this summer.

he is by far the best welder I have ever seen

Tell him to stick with a 6.0 setup. Toss a set of twins on with good fueling and it should be 800rwhp with out much hassle. Those new Gen 6? big blocks are junk, and there isn't much aftermarket. Stick with a previous generation 454 based big block if you must go that route. WAY more support, and much stronger from what I've researched.

But you can't get internals for the 8.1 to handle either level. You'd have a prayer of keeping it together with an LS based motor or an older big block.
