Ok long story. Ill try to make it short. I had a ps3 and an xbox 360 arcade. Didn't play the box much so I throw it on craigslist. My ps3 was just an 80 gig fatty. Works flawlessly. I get an offer from craigslist saying that some guy will trade me a backwards compatible ps3 for the xbox. Im like ok then I could sell mine or give it to my brother or something. Dude claimed it worked perfectly and had no issues. My xbox worked perfect. The guy lives in everett washington which is like 100 miles away. Stupid stupid stupid me decides to meet him half way in seattle. I should have tested it out but I didn't and took his word that it worked I get home plug it in and it plays for about 1-2 minutes and freezess to this glitchy green screen. I tried reformatting it and everything. No better. I call the guy and all he said was that it worked for him when he had it. And I called bs and cut my losses. Google is your friend; I googled his phone number. And pulled up an expired ad trying to sell a broken ps3 on craigslist. I knew immediately that I had been had for trusting our own people. I brought that up to him and he wont answer now. Moving on... I sent it into sony to get fixed/replaced for the 190 bucks and just got it back last night. It was a different system too. Much better shape, looked brand new. I guess it was refurbished since they don't make 60 gig backwards compatible anymore. Plug it in and go to transfer all my data from my 80 gig to the new one. Start playing fallout new vegas and freezes at the title screen. Im lime wtf. I restart it and now it isn't reading discs... I tried formatting...restoring to no solution. Call sony AGAIN and they have no answers except to send it back in. That's a big ordeal... they send me a box 3-5 business days... I send it bad 3-5 business days... they take 10-15 businesss days to send me another one or fix mine. Then 3-5 business days to receive it. All that just to open it up and break 2 minutes after taking it out of the box. Needless to say they're telling me that there is nothing else they can do. That is their policy etc... I said that they should mail me one first but that was against policy...I ended up talking to a supervisors manager and told him that my OWN policy is to get what I pay for promptly and in good working order. I asked how they were going to.compensate me for their error of wasting my time and not testing the system before they sent it to me. Hehhe he told me I could get a free game published by sony and asked me which one I wanted. I said gran turismo 5...and ill have it in the mail within a week... plus getting this ps3 fixed/replaced again. Doesn't anyone build quality products anymore?

My 250gb slim has been starting to make some bad noises. Sounds like it's about ready to throw a rod. I've had it just over a year, so it's out of warranty, by like 2 weeks. Grrrr.

I've been pretty lucky, I had my 360 and PS3 for maybe almost a year now. No issues at all, maybe I got some of the newer ones and they had all the bugs worked out.

Sorry for your loss man, whenever I buy electronics off craigslist, I either make sure I know as much as I can about it or bring a generator ( I have a small one for testing PC equipment on the go) and make sure what I'm receiving works.

The good thing about ps3's is that you can open then up and replace the parts, they aren't hard to fix really.

Ive had a 360 now since february of 07 so its a really older one. So far I have been lucky and it hasn't died on me. But its weird becuase just as you stated with fallout new vegas and fallout 3 for that matter, it plays fine for around 3-4 hours then it starts getting slow and laggy. It starts out fine and fast like it loads everything it needs to at startup then after that time it slows down and I can hear the cd drive randomly searching for data for even the slightest little thing I do in game, once it starts doing that I know its time to save because its about to freeze. Sure enough a few seconds later it just freezes and won't respond. Restart the console, good again for another 3-4 hours. These are the only games it does it on so I guess it is just the way Bethesda programs their games or something who knows. Then again my 360 is rather old so its time for a new one.

make sure it isn't in an inclosed area; they need good ventilation

Had a somewhat similar situation with Sprint recently. My upgrade became available and I sold them my BlackBerry Tour 9630 for $32, plus I paid $170 or so to upgrade to the new HTC EVO. I was told by the sales rep at Sprint that the 4G network was established throughout different parts of the city. I had the phone approximately four day before returning it becuase the battery would drain completely after 6 hours, 20 minutes of which the phone was probably being used. I went back to Sprint and explained that the short battery life was a hot topic being discussed all of the internet and that I wasn't told about it before I bought the phone. The sales rep then continued to tell me that the 4G network isn't established in the city yet, rather Sprint set up software to show the 4G signal on your phone whenever your phone pings a particular tower. Basically, false advertisement. The phone was an impulse buy and even after a couple of days I was stressed out by how large and heavy the phone was, the fear of dropping it and cracking the screen, the fact that it's sharp corner hurt my ear when holding up to my face.

I returned it for a BlackBerry Bold 9650, won't go back.

So far I've been lucky with both my fatty 80g PS3 and MW2 360, but I also bought both of them new. I don't trust other people to buy used gaming consoles or computers.

My original 80g PS3 didn't make it 24 hours. It couldn't pull the Bluray update from the included game for some reason and froze up midgame. After that it couldn't recognize any CDs, DVDs, or games I put in. When I called Sony, they were nice enough, but said it was the retailer's responsibility to replace.

Surprisingly, I was pleased to find that Microsoft tech has been very upstanding when I had to change my Live subscription and when the BF's Elite was sent in for repair.

All these posts make me ask again... WHY THE F*CK WON'T ANYONE MAKE QUALITY PRODUCTS? I mean I know it's an electronic and it may not last forever, but come on. These companies are charging us sh!tloads of money for the systems and games so they can fall apart at any time. This new one I just got crashed and stopped loading discs right after I updated it by the way...

Ok I take it you have had the same problems? Glad to know im not the only one then. Even if it is the games themselves causing it I still love them and will continue to buy the fallout series as long as Bethesda keeps up the good work. The one gripe I had about New Vegas though was it seemed like alot more task based than Fallout 3 with much less to kill throughout the wasteland although some of those things are hard as hell to kill (Cazadores for example when starting out). Definitely like Armor Piercing and Hollow point rounds you can have now as well.

Bethesda has always made notoriously buggy games. Good games, but notoriously buggy.

x2... I find it more fun to build it and fix it yourself than deal with tech support the moment something goes wrong.
