  • Dropped my new Blackberry...

I'm having a bad week, first the expensive car repairs, **** rolling uphill at work, and now I managed to drop my new Blackberry Bold 9650. The top left of the front housing is all scratched up. I found replacement housings on ebay for about $35-40. I am aware that doing this will void any warranty that I have on the phone, even though if I do a good enough job replacing it, I don't know how anyone would be able to tell.

Has anyone ever done this to a Blackberry or another style of phone?

Can't stand black berries! Good luck with repairs.. from what i've heard ebaying what you need and trying to do it yourself is the best idea.. or bite the bullet and go to a phone repair shop
    Wait, Is that a V6 or V8?

Yeah I've done this multiple times

unlike the above comment, I love blackberries (RIM shareholder haha)

Its pretty straight forward replacing one, just make sure you don't order one of the crap ones from japan because they don't always fit right... (yes the housings have numbers on the inside and they can check the part number)

Give it a year for what? They already lost. Unless they embrace Android, they're relevancy is nil.

                  Re: Dropped my new Blackberry...

I used my 1 year upgrade and purchased the EVO 4G. I returned it after five days using Sprint's 30 day return policy. The phone was heavy, the battery drained rather quickly, I couldn't stand the touch screen keyboard and the sharp edges hurt my ear when holding it up to talk. My upgrage price was $350, and I traded it in for the new Blackberry 9650 which was the exact same price. I broke even. I was considering switching to AT&T for a new iphone 4G, but AT&T has extrememly poor reception in the Cincinnati area. I also frequently travel to Southeast Indiana on a weekly basis and reception quality is worse the further out you go. Sprint and Verizon both work just fine out there, AT&T does not. It didn't come highly recommended through multiple sources.

I am a fan of Blackberry. Yes it would be nice if Blackberry had a lot of the Android features, but I really don't have a need for all of the apps. The nice thing about the EVO 4G was the Amazon MP3 app. Live and learn I guess. I like the qwerty keyboard on the Blackberry, I sync'd my phone to G-Mail (yes I know the EVO in a Google phone), and I check my bank account balance and ebay auctions.. I use the MP3 player as well. Thats basically all I need.

If I had Verizon I would get the Droid X with qwerty keyboard. My friend Andy has the same phone and it is nice.

                  Buttons forever, touch screen never!!
