Happened coming home after my 3rd 12 hour day this week. Rear-ended on an overpass. I seen him coming fast in the rear view, and I simply had no where to go, so I let go of the wheel about a second before it happened, and there he went.
The guy was a Polish immigrant, driving a BMW X5. There were patches of ice everywhere on the overpass, and I did see him try to stop. Honestly its better he hit me than try to swerve out of the way into oncoming traffic or something. I got out, we were both fine, got his info, and left. Didn't bother calling the police, no sense in it. I got his number, he has mine, so I'll give him a call about the accident, see what he can do to make it right, if he even does. Honestly, I was cold, tired, and at a point now that even if I did ask for the money for insurance, I can't do without the car for any period of time, nor do I want to deal with a rental. I love the car, but I just don't give a ****. Not even pissed, more happy to be home.
My car on the other hand has a smashed passenger tail light, and the hatch will no longer stay closed. I opened the hatch to get my tools out, and the latch is pushed too far forward to reach the hook on the hatch, so now I have to figure out how to get it to stay closed. I called my friend in Indy, and told him that I need my Monte Carlo back by the end of next week, which he's been tinkering with it for the last year now. Ive come to a point that I need a new car, something practical, preferrably a truck. Difficult to buy anything right now, simply because work is a week to week thing during the winter, I can't afford to buy something and then only work 40 or so hours the next month.
