Good reasons. I'd go with something with a little more style, but that's my taste.

Don't get it, it is way over priced. I picked up a 2008 kia Optima with 36k miles, for 10k

My GF has a 2007 Ford Fusion, gets the same mileage, looks better, handles better, and will hold a better resale value than that overpriced POS you're looking at right now. Not to mention, she only paid $14k for it, and only had 42k on the odometer.

Personally, if you buy that car, you're an idiot, not because its a Honda, but because its an overpriced Honda. They are unimpressive cars, that only hold value because of word of mouth....they don't really hold their value that well, and they certainly aren't worth $12k when they have 80k+ miles on them, they're not a Cummings diesel for ****'s sake.

If that thing had 40-50k miles on them, it would be worth the price, but at 83,xxx miles, shouldn't be over $10k at all.

Its actually a nice kinda car. Ex had one and it was a very nice smooth ride. IMO its not that bland. But I can find better things to spend 11K on. Thats way too much. Id rather put it into my Z and keep the rest for hookers :D

@Swindez95 my Canadian built car is now 12 years old and will hit a quarter million miles by the end of the month. Ive replaced the alt, pass window motor, EBCM, and will soon need a clutch (plus various other small things). In my book, thats reliable! Also is it possible that in your area that more people drove non-Hondas?

It is way overpriced I agree with everyone else on that. Too many miles for that high of a price!!

I am not gunna flame you because the new car I am getting next week is an 04 Accord EX-L. Has ALL options and only 57k on it. 2 dr... and I'm only getting it for 8,500 from my dad's best friend who babied it since 04.

now everyone can flame me instead... for selling a trans am and getting a honda. :)

My dad used to drive a 94 accord, with the only majorish repairs being a CV joint and brakes, well over 200k miles. Only reason it's dead now is because the guy we had replace the timing belt didn't do it right, and it broke at highway speeds, trashing the valves. Just sayin'. Still a little overpriced though.

Oh man, I hope you got an industrial strength flame suit. You better call some of the local foundries and see what they recommend.

Any car can be reliable, just depends on how well you want to take care of it. I'll say that a Honda is a car you can beat the **** out of and not have to worry about it, but why do it in the first place?

Honda's are well worth the money considering it's gonna last you a life time and do exactly what it was designed to do.....As long as you don't plan on racing it, it's cool.;)

Re: Going to look at this today...

Hondas aren't bad, but they're like appliances. They're dependable and useful, but they just don't have that special something that makes one lust for them.

I have a 2007 Accord Coupe LX, 4-cylinder. Bought it new in 2007 for commuting 250 miles a week to/from work (this was when gas was climbing to $4.50 a gallon in CA). It's reliable and saves gas. Even with my stop and go commute, it still manages to get 29-31 mpg at every fill-up. It only has 166 hp and 160 lb ft of torque but it serves its purpose which is commuting. So far, it's been reliable with only cosmetic issues (door tape curling up at the edges of the door frame. A common problem on the coupes).

Be warned about the 6-cyl Accords: they have known transmission problems for the automatics. Also, the 6-cyl engine has a timing belt (the 4 cyl has a timing chain) so at 84,000 miles, the car you are looking to buy may need a timing belt soon.

I think the car is overpriced for having that many miles on it. You should wait until something better comes along with lower mileage or haggle the price down to include the $1,000+ cost of timing belt replacement.

Whatever you do, don't buy the 2008 - 2011 Accords. Those model year Accords have lots of problems with VCM (variable cylinder management) and brakes. You can read all the complaints on it on edmunds.com's Honda Accord forums. Lots of complaints about this new technology that shuts off 1/2 of your cylinders to save gas.
                            2001 white Firebird (completely stock)

2003 Civic LX sedan for my daily commute. 115 hp (Yes, pathetic, but gets me 36 mpg!)

We have 2 accords (04 and 05). One is the EX, one is LX, and both are just the i4. I used to drive the EX during the winters before I got my Volvo. I have to say that it was fairly miserable to drive, I have a feeling it had to do with the power:weight. That said, it was extremely comfortable and never gave me any problems. The backseat is spacious, so well worth it if you are toting people around. The car in general felt a bit more solid (both with the body and the interior) than many other cars I've driven, including my Volvo. Leather was nice, sound quality was good, etc.

People here all feel the need to bash on foreign cars in order to sound like a reeeeeeeal Amurican. Go and get a feel for it (along with some other options) and buy whatever you like.

Re: Going to look at this today...

The selling price is not the final price, a lot of people seem to forget that. I drove that exact car yesterday, and man o' man was it nice! I offered a cool $9,500 and they declined, so I walked away. I have found that many dealers will come down a couple grand on price if the car has been sitting around for some time. If they refuse to negotiate then that is their loss, I have the option of going elsewhere for a better deal.

I have four Accords to view this evening after work, one of which is an '07 "value package" with 28k miles. To be quite honest, there is nothing made by Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan, Mazda, Chrysler, GM or Ford that interests me. I just happen to like Honda's, big deal. I still own, drive and love the hell out of my Camaro and that should count for something. I have had three Camaro's, two Firebirds, two Buicks, an '04 Impala and an Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight. If I'm looking at buying a Honda and not another GM, that should tell ya something! I'm not impressed or trusting with General Motors quality and reliability, especially when it comes to a daily driver, my wallet and my family. I'll buy a GM car when the quality gets better and won't fear having to replace a lower intake gasket, rear main seal, power window motor or transmission. I'd rather replace a timing belt at 90k, change the oil every 3k and just drive the damn car.

                                :excited:
