HOLY JEEEEZ!!! My overall impression of even owning a truck has changed.

      Who here owns one??
I had a 2004 Extend Cab 2wd Silverado. Wasn't bad, but man, you need 4wd in our climate. My 2010 isn't all that different, all the underpinnings are similar. I'd go with a Tahoe if you're going to go full size. The rear seat on the crew/extended cabs fill up real quick.

Mines a 08' 6.0 Vortec MAX LTZ EXT. CAB with a Snug top and its pretty fast for a truck has leather interior and power everything, they are pretty bad @ss, I have already added 2 degrees of timing and removed the speed limiter, 98 MPH give me a break. LOL
        08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine

I looked at an '06 Silverado 1500 extended cab 4x4, white with gray leather and a 4 inch lift. It has 102k miles on the clock for $14,900.

I really liked it, yay or nay?

I say go for it. With that many miles keep an eye on the tranny fluid for any unusual smells and it should last a pretty good while.

I only say keep an eye on the tranny fluid because of the 4l60e, or 4l65e perhaps. Big truck + 4wd + v8 = alot of abuse for a transmission that can barely hold up to the v6's in our beloved Firebirds and Camaros.

Friend of mine bought an 08 silverado extended cab new on the lot fully loaded with the factory alloy 20's, 5.3 with cylinder shutoff, 2wd. It was a great truck and it was really comfortable. He did have problems though with a factory installed special theftlock security system which had a little masterlock looking key thing that inserted under the dash. Without it the truck would literally do nothing. Every so often the truck would go into limp home mode with no throttle and only 1-3 gears with very harsh shifting. Took it to the dealer 2-3 times and they finally found that the system had a bare wire touching the firewall grounding out and putting the computer into that mode.

A couple thousand miles after that the transmission lost 2nd and overdrive. Dealer replaced the transmission with a new unit under warranty but upon inspection they discovered the 2nd gear band anchor had literally snapped off and they attributed it to the faulty security system putting the computer in limp home mode and the harsh shifts causing severe fatigue on the anchor point.

Since having all that fixed finally he hasn't had a single problem out of it since.

I'd say nay on truck seems a bit high in pricing.

That price was the best I've found for a truck of that year with those miles. Nobody seems to have any REAL deals going out there.
