Why? As a self employed individual, I'm sure he has a signficant tax liability. I'll bet you a dollar that he owes. He has also misdirected that he cleared $300k. I believe he had sales of $300k, which is quite different. The actual number you would want to know is the profit margin.

Have you ever taken care of kids before? It's hard enough sometimes when I have to watch my friends two kids (one is 8 months and the other just turned 2). They have to be fed, watched, bathed, clothed, changed diapers, helped on the potty, read books to, burped, you literally have to do everything for babys and little ones. That doesn't even include things a stay at home mom would also be responsible for like doing the dishes, doing the laundry, grocery shopping, vacuuming the house, dusting, changing the sheets, making dinner, cleaning up after dinner, etc. Then imagine 4 kids.. school, carpool, homework, play dates, then teenage years when in comes drugs, sexuality, depression, puberty, anxiety, concerts, boyfriends, yada yada to worry about.

No, not all kids need to be watched 24/7. And no, your life shouldn't DRASTICALLY change. But there will be a LOT of change involved and to think your going to skate on by and just watch them grow up and not change your lifestyle is ridiculous. And its equally crazy to think that stay at home moms do "mostly nothing".

And all this bull**** can be split up between two working parents. And you can't tell me it can't be done, because I only lived with one parent, and she managed to do 90% of this **** on her own. I can cook, do laundry, clean, dust, change sheets just fine, and my kids will learn to do it for themselves. Why have one person doing ALL this, making no income, when you can have EVERYONE in the house pitching in and doing all the chores while still bringing in two incomes? These things can be done by one person on a minimal budget AND still going to work, why does one of the parents have to stay at home? You're not convincing me.

Different strokes for different folks... I llike having my kid in daycare. Honestly, I think as soon as we put him it actually seems like he is "accelerating" faster. Whats the best way to learn something be put in a group with others that know it.

He is doing great... wife is working in the school system, and I get off at 3pm... he is in daycare which he sleeps 1/4 of the time. He is also exposed to a crapload more toys and educational things.

Right now I'm the sole share holder of my LLC. I also do systems analysis contracts, make money on the side from several other short term "hustles" and earn from investments. The 300k is roughly what I earned when you count operating profit from my company, returns on investments and pay checks from contracts and short term projects. This doesn't include taxes. Since I don't get paid very much via normal W-2 payroll most my money is 1099 so I end up owing taxes.

However much of the money was re-invested into business expansion reducing my tax liability. Some of it was also spent on investments so we'll see where I stand when the accounting is done. Some of my investments didn't do very well last year. I think I broke about even minus the dividends which aren't really that much.

Also my business is all recurring sales for services. As we make sales, as long as we retain customers, the yearly revenue grows.

I live off of my short tearm money making schemes and contract work. I generally don't pay myself out of my company money. I've been trying to mimic what my dad did for himself, he also ran his business the same way for a long time. Ie: Having to get other money to sustain yourself so the business can do well.

Yea I totally agree. I had to do my own laundry, clean my own room, change my own sheets, cook for myself during the day after school, etc.. Mom would cook when she got home from work though. I never understood why other kids had their mom doing everything for them 0.o. Seemed easy enough for me. Wtf I don't have a brain, hands and legs?

So all of this long rambling to agree with what I had said. Sales of over $300k, not personal income.

I guess you didn't read it clearly? Sales (ie. revenue) are not the same as operating profit. I could have kept it and made it personal income minus taxes if I didn't want to grow my business.

Thats what I was waiting for, the "inexperience with kids" card. Its all nonsense. That kid will survive just fine without you staring them down 24/7, Im living, walking proof of that.
you know what wes, i was going to type out a big huge thing, but it doesnt matter because you think youre always right and everything you say is the god damn word of god anyways so there's no point in arguing with you. im just going to agree with everything you say about everything because you're never wrong about anything and how dare anyone dare question your infinite wisdom of all things important. i really just dont have the time to sit here and wait for you to try and argue me into a corner like you try to do to everyone constantly. so YOURE RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING, we're all terrible parents how dare we raise our kids how we want when there is such a superior way to do so?

its actually a bit funny that youre not religious. you'd make the perfect christian bible thumper.

seriously, do yourself a favor and get fixed.

I know right? I said that too, but it seems everyone should raise their kids exactly the same and we should all take advice from someone who doesnt even have kids yet

About time someone said it. It seems almost criminal to be the slightest bit optimistic and open minded about other ideas and different ways to do things.

                            Re: Money question?

I give you viable solutions to both sides of the issue, and you get pissy. Having kids, raising kids, and living with kids is not a new concept at all, but for some reason or another, its some exclusive club. Its not, dont pretend it is. Its a pretentious attitude I have never tolerated even from my friends. And alot of them were like that after their first kids, but after the second, third, and in some cases, their 4th kids, they knew better. I have a nephew, I see whats involved, most of my closest friends have 3+ kids, their lives have not changed, only readjusted. They didn't have to make major sacrifices in their careers or lives for children, yet these children are doing just fine. After their newborns, kids generally can usually do for themselves pretty well. Once these kids reach a certain age, you don't have to change diapers, you don't have to clean up after them (or shouldn't), you don't have to sit them in a chair and spoon feed them. They'll know when they're hungry, they'll know when they have to ****, they'll know when they're tired.

Im not telling you that you HAVE to do it my way, Im telling you that your way is dumb, and that Ive figured out a way to have the best of both worlds while compromising the extremes on both sides. There is a difference.

Thank you. Best thing you can teach a child is to teach them the importance of being independent.

And I have a hard time being convinced that a woman who wants to be looked at as an equal be just content sitting at home cranking out a child every 9 months and taking care of them. You're not equal at that point, you're inferior, and you've sucessfully set all women back 70 years in the civil rights movement. And if you still think you're equal, you're a hypocrite.
