Man, what a let down. As much as I hate GM most days, I was kind of excited when I saw the commercial for this car. I was thinking it was going to be something kinda cool, turbo/DI/V6. Nope. Turbo/DI/Ecotec 4 cylinder?!?!? 220 flywheel HP??!?! Ummm, someone should have told GM, that it needed about 100 more HP to be a contender. What a fail.

And watch GM bring back the Grand National with an LS3 engine.

It will be piss slow, lame and retarded if they do.

I swear this is why I'm going into the world of kitcars because the automotive industry is starting to suck really badly, they can't build cars like they used to.

I have a feeling the last nails were already put in the Pontiac Coffin... why waste the time screwing around with a firebird, or anything to steal thunder from the Camaro, the car they were gong to continue to sell...


and I don't care what you say, the G8 is ****ing badass... I wish they still sold a variant. I am keeping my hopes up that the caprice version they were talking about starts coming over.

The problem was almost everything in the Pontiac lineup(except the G8) needed a refresh as they were all in the market for at least 5 years.

Almost everything in the Buick lineup was fresh and just redone.

The Firechicken was never on the board.

GM wants one Pony car to go head to head with the 'Stang and beat it in sales.

The G6 wasn't that old, was do for an upgrade but not crazy old, They did a facelift 4 years after it debuted but once again why update something being shut down.

Solstice was nice and they just released the coupe right before they shut down. I have only seen 1 solstice coupe in my life.

GTO could have used an upgrade but once again... they knew they are shutting down.

funny thing about buick though, i just read that they've outsold every luxury brand so far this year (benz,acura,caddy,lexus) except for BMW.

The G8 was a bad *** car for a 4 door family hauler.

The GTO from 2004-2006 was also a cool car.

The Solstice was a neat little car as well.

The G8 is a cool car for dads. I think that was a horrible creation from Pontiac.

That GTO was even worst because it was a rebadge holden just like the G8.

I will agree Solstice was a great idea and creation its a damn shame it never will have a follow up to battle against the MX6.

The G8 was a brilliant car, it was designed to be the fastest car under $30K. It was a blue-collar variant of quick BMW and Benz Sedans. It was an awesome car.

sometimes i dont think you have a clue what youre talking about, the G8 during its run was faster and handled better than the bmw M3 for 20k less, thats nothing to blink an eye at considering its one of the cars that all others are measured by. hate to break the news to you, but what exactly do you think the CTS,Camaro and a few other GM cars exactly are? theyre all built on holden's architecture so by your logic theyre just holdens too. here's a bigger mind blower for you... the Aussies know how to build cars better than us. who the **** cares if the GTO and G8 were rebadged holdens, they were still light years better than anything else short of the corvette that GM was putting out. while we're at it... what do you think the solstice/saturn sky is? theyre just rebadged vauxhall vx220's with new front clips.

Having had Vettes and a GTO, I will say that the GTO interior quality was much nicer than either of my C5's. I've driven plenty of C6's, and they aren't much better than C5's inside. I'd take a GTO interior any day over a Vette!

True but they are still about 90,000 to 100,000 units short of what Pontiac did the year before they got axed.

They can't build cars like that anymore because building parts for a car is substantially more expensive than building a car with the parts you have. Letting Buick design a car by itself is costly, not to mention that you're going to have a facility, workers, engineers, and specific tooling for ONE car....it's not cost effective. Even the vette is getting parts of it shared among the other 3 GM domestic divisions.

I don't think you grasp the undertaking or the costs involved in the redesign of a new car. It's in the tens of millions, and GM has to see a return on that investment. They're not in the business of building a car for you ala carte or from scratch to impress a few diehard enthusiasts, they're in this to turn a profit.

Buick is not it's own entity anymore, they are a much more controlled division of GM. And Pontiac is dead, and took the Firebird with it. Time to accept that.

The 2008 Lacrosse Super has a rating of 300hp @5600 rpm's and 323 ft. lbs. torque. I believe it weighs close to 3800 lbs., but that doesn't hold it back. We test drove a red 2007 Impala SS and I can honestly tell you that both cars are very similar in performance and comfort, but the Buick just seem 10x quieter and has more amenities and attention to detail. The other reason I chose the Buick over the Impala was the simple fact that the car is rare in its own right and I rarely ever see one on the road. I also had a base 2006 Lacrosse last year that I traded in. Other than my Camaro(s), the Buick's are the best cars I have ever driven. Before the Lacrosse I owned a 2001 Century Custom 3.1, that was a terrific car!

true but there is a bigger profit margin on buick. they know pontiac usually out sells buick, but buick still makes them more money
