  • My 25 year old calculator finally died

    R.I.P. TI Business Analyst II

TI's present value calculators are so easy to use and understand (they use natural entry format instead of HP's weird RPN entry format).

I think I bought it back in 1985 or 1986. It finally died completely last month. New batteries won't even bring it back to life.

The last present value calculation it did was telling how much a loan payment woudl be on my new Malibu.

The BAII Plus does everything the old one did and more and much faster.

            No abacus? :p

My old TI-84 died a slow and painful death at an early age due to battery acid leakage. Thing would make a popping noise and shut off. Finally it sizzled one last time and didn't come back on with new batteries. The replacement... TI-89 Plus that I couldn't use in any classes and is overly complicated.

On a quick side note.. the calculator on a Blackberry is very difficult to use.

The 89 is awesome though. The thing I like most about it (that I've discovered so far) is that it will evaluate integrals. Makes life much easier when Calc 3 homework is a b!tch.

Good luck... I had 2 othere TI 10B II.

Basically a modern version of the business calculator. Both only lasted like 2 years.

Did save me a crapload of money on my G6... Its amazing the bold face lies you get with dealers sneaking in a couple extra $$$ into the monthly payments.

Hey, that's what it was like when it was new. I threw away the books long ago. The calculator's vinyl cover fell apart decades ago. The one for sale there was like a year or two newer - TI changed look of it a little.

Re: My 25 year old calculator finally died

You can see I had to write in what many of the keys did because the letters had worn off of them.

There are a lot better fucntions on the new one also. The "CST". "SEL", and "MAR" keys were stupid. If someone needs special key to help them figure out the simple markup percent over cost, there's no way they are going to be doing present value and other calculations.
