and everything is almost in top condition,as for the track..idk if i have the heart,my friend has the exact car with everything and he ran 14.1 at 98mph, its a high 13 second car that can tap triple digit speeds 100+ in the 1/4. But ill probably take her when i need a new clutch, its not cheap but you get what you pay for, i actually got the car for 10k which is a good deal only because of the M package and the 6 speed.
That's a really smooth car. Congrats on the purchase.
thanks alot,as for repairs its not that bad, i accidently cracked the windshield and had to get a new one without insurance...anyone want to guess how much for it installed??? i replace the valve cover and vanos gaskets, gasket kit was $80.oil filter is $9 same cost oil(mobil 1) plugs range for $3 to $9 it all depends, but lets hear the guestimates for the windshield,,,im heading to the gym so ill check back for the guesses...later guys
I would definately drive that car. Very nice. The only hot rod sedan I would prefer over that would be a Pontiac G8 GXP (with the LS3.) Won't find one of those for $10k, tho.

i liked that car when it came out,but it feels soo cheap comparedto the BMW,it is faster cause of alot more power, but i never realized the lack of quality and that EURO feel until i bought one
The Fbody windshield is one of the largest for a mass produced car. When you have to get a 24" wiper, you KNOW its alot of square inch its wiping. I can see an Fbody windshield being expensive, but $3-$9 plugs for a car is rediculous.
I had a friend I worked with that got a GREAT deal on a 740i, until he realized that even the simplest repairs were costing him a grand every time. Even the parts were 3x the money. BMW and Mercedes are bad like that. Over-engineered cars that require over-engineered parts. Might have gotten it for cheap, but repairs are going to kill you. You can bet on that.

What plugs are you getting for that much? Most EDM cars do just fine with generic Bosch $2 plugs found at Autozone.
Proprietary parts are going to be the most expensive, unless you actually take that to a dealership to be worked on (typically a minimum of $120/hr labor costs). Generic parts that you can replace or fix yourself shouldn't be nearly as bad. So far the most expensive thing on my parents' 330i has been the work done to fix the wiring issue on the tail lights, but that's a common problem on E46s.
Oh, and look out for issues with the cooling system if it hasn't been overhauled in the past (leaks, crack in reservoir, etc).

$3 plugs are not bad at all,and the windshield for the camaro is big but the BMW is higher quality with a layer of poly-something lol that gives it the ability to stop a 100mph baseball, its not an over-engineered car,,,its just GERMAN. the camaro is just a simple car thats half the price...but it is also half the car..just a fact.

yep the cooling was actually done by my mechanic friend even before i bought the car, he said "i know that car, i just did the radiator, hoses, thermo, water pump etc.

I think german engineering is overrated. Its a factor in why they lost WWII, among many others. Over-engineered artillery and weapons that required many parts to replace isnt something I would use in comparison to US made simplicity that survived with minimal parts and did the same thing. But the same can be said about todays technology. Mercedes and BMW are notoriously some of the most expensive cars to maintain, because of proprietary parts as Pace said. Now as for an Fbody being half the car, I cant completely argue that, because a 540i and and Fbody are made for two very different types of people and are two VERY different cars, but its not as if GM doesn't have cars that can compete or exceed the standards of what BMW can create, CTS-V sedan comes to mind being the fastest sedan on the planet.
If you don't mind me asking, how many miles does it have on it? For 10k, Im betting its over or damn close to 100k on the odometer. Thing was probably $50k+ new in its day.......

it actually has 130k...and runs strong had to replace the vanos seal, half an hour job,and the cts-v is awesome, but how many awesome luxuray cars does the US have???? oh right only 1.And the american cars have the ability to outperform german cars but they are always lacking the engineering and quality,,look at the bugatti and the SSC aero, the veyron has more then 200hp less than the ssc and it weighs almost a ton more and it has every luxury possible and yet the SSC barely hemoraged a few miles faster, few months later the SS veyron got a make over and destroyed the SSC. now the AMERICAN dager GT is on the way...pffft good luck
