Re: Ok b.m.w. Love me or hate me!!

do we really want to turn this into an american vs german car debate?....you want to talk about german vs american as far as performance?...tell me how a 500+ hp v10 runs mid 12's...as far as I'm concerned that's aweful engineering

I would say the only thing that german cars have over american cars is the interiors...German cars have a nicer interior with more functionality...thats about as far as the German cars go...you want to talk performance? American doesnt just outperform...they dominate...you want to talk handling...hell I'll put Americans up on that to...whats left exterior? thats a matter of opinion...IMO german cars all look the same...virtually every beamer regardless of the series looks too damn similar...they are all boxy....same with VW's...Atleast with American cars they make em in different shapes.

I feel like all BMW does with their exterior designs every year is round off a random corner on their cars...I mean look at the design all the way back from the mid 80's and slowly start rounding the car out...like literally round an edge out every year and you virtually have their new design...

FYI i still have a camaro, and i never made a debate over american vs german. i just got a german car which i love and there is always some person that has to piss in your cheerios and tell you its over enginered and to expensive. If i wanted to get the best handling car with insane speed at a cheap or competitive price i would get a corvette zo6. If i want a car that is quiet, comfortable, luxurious and well made with quality parts and that can withstand the test of time, then i would get a german car,,which is exactly what i did... is there anything argurments about that..its a fact, german cars are better built and better quality, american cars are generally simple and i love that, but when i want to be in a nicer atmosphere i drive my BMW...THE END~!

Re: Ok b.m.w. Love me or hate me!!

You can't come to a domestic car site and, brag about a BMW, and not expect some criticism. The rest of the usual bobble heads might think it's nice, but I prefer a more objective point of view. As for a BMW being more luxurious, can't argue that, but I still think that Caddy and Lincoln can keep up to par with luxury, even if it's not quite as functional. And I can't think of one german car that "can stand the test of time" over a lot of american cars. They're reliability is some of the worst you can get in a car anywhere. Don't get me wrong, German cars are a marvel of modern engineering, but a lot of it really isn't nessecary. it's like buying a grandfather clock when all I need is a digital wristwatch.

If you like it though, more power to ya, but I know I wouldn't spend $10k on a 130,000 mile BMW. You'll spend another $5k getting it to 200k.

Re: Ok b.m.w. Love me or hate me!!

And the american cars have the ability to outperform german cars but they are always lacking the engineering and quality,,look at the bugatti and the SSC aero, the veyron has more then 200hp less than the ssc and it weighs almost a ton more and it has every luxury possible and yet the SSC barely hemoraged a few miles faster, few months later the SS veyron got a make over and destroyed the SSC. now the AMERICAN dager GT is on the way...pffft good luck
its a fact, german cars are better built and better quality, american cars
Thats opening a debate...all of which I just finished talking about. Explain to me how they are built better and are better quality? they have nicer interiors with more functionality, and are quieter...last I checked an interior didnt "make" a car...so that makes up 1/3 of the car...what about the other 2/3's?...the other 2/3's don't hold up so well against their american counterparts...so by that logic, I fail to see how they are "built better and are better quality"

especially since we already stated, the parts are cheaper, last longer, and american cars farrrr out perform the germans...

lol this is soo funny, at least im a bit more mature to understand and appreciate different makes of cars. and as for the "bobble heads" who like my car...thank you! i didnt come here to brag about my BMW.. some people end up being envious but...oh well. it not going to take another 5k to keep it running i can assure you that, and if it does i would say it's my money well spent. i spent soo much money on my camaro to keep it running, the basics are good, motor tranny..drivetrain, but alot of the other stuff is just down right crappy and cheap..take offense if you want.. i still love my camaro but the BMW is in a different class, i always said my friend was full of sh*t when he said euro's are awesome and they feel special,,, but now i have to agree with him, mabe german cars arent for some of you guys but you wont know what your missing until you have one.

see this right here is the exact reason I find so much pleasure in absolutly slaughtering these cars at the track...it really does make me smile every time I line up against one...every bmw owner thinks the world is envious of their car...I could careless what you own...I could careless that your getting rid of the camaro to buy whatever it is your buying/bought...but to continually say that german cars are in a different class and are better than american cars, is ignorant and to think for one second that they are envious of them...you are talking out of your a** like every other bmw owner I know out there...

Thats great your proud of your new car...we're happy for you...but stop talking about sh*t that you have not the slightest clue about...you want to get technical, then lets get technical...this bullsh*t your spewing right now is exactly that...bullsh*t

Re: Ok b.m.w. Love me or hate me!!

Has nothing to do with maturity, I just appreciate a north American car over European counterparts. And I do take offense when someone says that a German car is better than an American one, especially when they compare two cars that are fundamentally different. I actually take PRIDE in buying something made by either union or American here in N America, instead of selling out my fellow americans because someone told me a certain thing was nice. But I guess American pride is worthless when you can have heated leather seats and German engineering...

And there is nothing to be envious about when your car is a 130,000, 10 year old BMW you overpaid for. Again, more power to ya if you like it, but I don't think it's the car everyone says it is.

I'm going to cue you in on a little secret... Bosch is a German company. They make products that are affordable and work just as well on European (and sometimes Japanese) cars as those other expensive brands. It's the domestic designed cars that tend to have issues with them.

If you want to spend the extra money on the Platinum tipped or Iridium X plugs, or even the trendy $80 rapid-fire plugs, go for it. But you can get just the same performance on that BMW with the basic Bosch Copper plugs. ;)

HAHA... take it easy "LETZRIDE" the BMW is in a different class from the camaro because it was about twice the price of the camaro when they came out, just as the corvette is in a different class from the camaro.BTW you wont be slaughtering many 540i's at all, mabe if they are stock you can,but after all with a 4 door sedan who needs a stall, weight reduc..,gears,tune,heads and cam? lol.german cars imo are just better built and put together...i may be wrong..just dont cry about it,,geezze what a baby!! and "MOGOBS30TH" i didnt sell out, the camaro was my first car and i loved it,im not even american so with all due respect i kinda dont care too much. my favorite will always be the ZR1 has nothing to do with brand. and letzride keeps saying im talking sh*t... mabe he needs to pull his head out his a** and read the first couple of posts. but im off to bed,you guys have a goodnight/day etc.you like american cars more..thats great. as for letzride,,,lol you need to calm down, be a little less hott headed...

yeah i understand that, im running NGK's that are pretty pricey,i already ordered some bosch + 2's which are alot cheaper, plugs are plugs so they dont make too much of a difference only when it comes down to lifespan

this kids just not getting it....I never once compared the camaro to the bmw...your addressing American cars as a whole, that includes the entire chevy brand, pontiac (whats left) etc, etc, etc...they are not different classes...it's already been pointed out to you that cadillac and lincoln are on the same playing field as BMW...I'm referring to the "american cars"...not camaro

and you are talking ****, A) you dont read and comprehend, B) I don't think you know the first thing about cars other than how to put one in drive...do you know what 540's are capable of? d*ck all...for christ sakes, the M series performance is a joke...I already told you 500+hp out of a v10!...runs mid 12's??? and with the price tag thats on it? I'd be embarrased to be behind the wheel of one and call it a performance car...a 500hp car towing a trailer with an additonal 3000lbs should run mid 12's...

your first few posts were fine until you started spewing garbage...I'm still waiting to hear how BMW in general...IN GENERAL (meaning the entire brand) is of better quality than GM or "american cars"...I want SOLID facts

when you can argue the above with something solid and not "its a better atmosphere"...then I might say your not talking from your a**

and this is not a p*ssing match about what my car can and can't do...it has nothing to do with this conversation whatsoever, I've taken down my fair share of 540's...those things plague our track over here...I really wish you weren't as far as florida, because I would be more than happy to show you what I can and will do to "modded" 540's first hand

haha...(pause) i actually do know about cars, i work on them myself, like swapping the motor on my camaro and converting it from an A4 to a T5, just saying. And the M series is definitely not a joke, thats just ignorance...funnny i now noticed your from canada..that explains alot haha. but yeah if you feel great about taking out stock 2 ton,4 door luxury sedans with your highly modded V6 camaro thats great for you, and i would not race you if you were in FL, it would be pointless, im pretty sure you can do a 13.6 in the 1/4 which i can probably match, but after the quarter mile i'd feel sorry for you....bye bye in my crappy german BMW lol

FYI, cadillac and lincoln are not even close to par with BMW's in interior. Lincoln is completely cheap and all caddi's have crap interior until the new CTS-V came along, thank god it took a $70k car to get nice interior. The new buick is now making good interior...but wait i forgot that is also german design lol.
