Re: sure has slowed down around here

I spend most of my time with the 5th gen v6 guys over on bowtiev6.com :) I still check in here every day though to make sure things are all good. Plenty of knowledge lurking in the shadows here. A bunch of us here have some pretty quick cars ;)

I have no idea about bibber, I know he has a el tee juan T/A, with red interior. And he hates the optispark with a passion. And thats just some of the people on here who have been around forever.
lol, trust me, i know my way around the v6 pretty well, been inside and out of them quite a few times between my old one and a couple of buddies also. we cut our teeth on them before moving on to the v8s.

Its a boring forum filled with mostly people who do not have a great wealth of knowledge.
Ok, this I couldn't let go.

There are several reason why this site is the way it is. This message board has had a focus on 4th gen f-bodies since its inception in May of 2001, so it only had about 18 months of the car being produced before the f-body was axed. We're also don't focus on the V8 brethren. Another reason why it may seem dead is because alot of the info anyone could want about this platform has been discussed at some point. With that being said, its not as easy to come up with new info, because there's really nothing new to come from it. And lastly, we're talking about a V6. You have to WANT to build up a car like this with this engine. We cater to a younger crowd of people, on more limited budgets. Most people with money generally are a little older, have had their junk shrink, and have the time and funds to throw at something that is faster out of the gate.

I think this site does pretty well considering we discuss a dead platform, focus on a base model V6, and have been around for 10 years now. LS1Tech simply has a larger scope and a bigger following. Comparing the two sites is like comparing this place to the current version of FTV6. We have a VERY specific scope of discussion here, where as many other auto tech message boards are much more broad.

As for a lack of knowledge, Im not sure where you get that at. Me and probably 25 others here could easily tell you more about your car than you could learn in the next year. This place isn't full of gimmicky bull**** like alot of other sites with their unlimited PM boxes, sponsor bars, and other BS that takes away from the purpose of the site. This site is built around knowledge, and the admins see fit that the purpose of this site is not diluted with the Mickey Mouse bull****.

Re: sure has slowed down around here

I, for one, appreciated some of the insight as I ressurected my V6. Talk about limited, as I get the '79 ready for the 1320 again, there is VERY little out there. I like coming here when there are questions I have about the rare Bird I built. True, a lot has been answered, but I do like to come by and visit on occassion and there have been, at times, a weath of parts that people have had more than generous prices on (Showdown, the lower A arms are still black and straight as an arrow!). True also, this is a largly not newer car now, but hell, there's forums from import/cafe bikes to Model T sites and everything in between. I say why not have this? Certainly not the oldest (nor forgotten) cars out there!

Re: sure has slowed down around here

After a few months I thought I'd log in while I had some down time to see what has been going on. Low and behold, I run across this thread..

The reason in which I left and haven't logged in for months was the arrogant, know-it-all attitude of Mogobs30th. I'm sure comments could be made about me as well, but he takes the cake. Kinda reminds me of my Aunt Helen.

Otherwise, this site was great and its users provided me with a wealth of knowledge that helped keep my Camaro on the road. Thanks for everything.

I have since sold my V6 and bought a 2001 WS6. I can get all of the information I need by browsing through older posts on LS1tech rather than logging in under my user profile. Perhaps I am not the only one and this could be another reason to add to the slow down.

Thanks for everything. Please deactivate my account. I'm over it.

But mogos DOES know it all....

Its funny how life changes, I am making more money then I have ever have, My wife is making more money then she ever has... yet I drive the crappiest car I have ever owned.

I mean its not crap, its a 2000 v6, but with exception to my 85 Camaro when I was 16, this is the oldest car I have owned. :) But I just couldn't resist, I knew too much about it and it made an ideal bater.

So you guys got me back... LOL I remember getting in arguments about moving over from camaroz28.com v6 section to come over to this board when it was created years back.

So what do you really want? Entertainment? Not saying this forum is void of it but it's definitely not the place to go when you're looking for a laugh, unless you dig up some Fondle threads. But really though, I still come across stuff on my car that I've never had to work on and I can come here to ask someone and I still get answers. I don't see what the problem is.

Not to mention.. Unless you're a supporting member, which is optional, it's ****ing free!

i dont know if this is directed towards me or not, but no i want to see some new goddamn members especially ones with 5th gens. there isnt any excuse in being nearly 2 years into the production cycle and we have maybe 3 or 4 members (who rarely post anything about the cars) with them and thats it.

there's no reason the site shouldnt be expanded to cater to these guys and the new platform. id love get more people around here that are tearing them down and building something faster out of them. yeah i can go else where for it, but what the hell for? its a shame that i even have to at this point. you google camaro and v6 and this is a top 4 or 5 result every time and yet we have nothing to show for it when it comes to the new maros. its great and all that we've been so dedicated to the 4th gen but i see no reason as to why we shouldnt be doing more to move towards the future and stop looking at the past and what we already know. this site should be flooded with 5th gen owners looking to mod their new cars and we should be able to help them without blinking an eye.

I bet your Aunt Helen doesn't take **** from you either does she? Mods and other members don't cater to other members, just the way it works. Not that Im saying its good to lose members, but its no REAL loss here. If you or anyone else is that unhappy, PM me. Many members have, and we've resolved them in most instances. Sorry I didn't jump thru flaming hoops and throw a party for you everytime you logged on. Don't worry, Im not an arrogant ******* because Im a mod, Im an arrogant ******* out of nature. Ask anyone on V6f-body.com. But I am sorry we couldn't work out the differences like men.

But mogos DOES know it all....
Power perceived is power achieved. I don't know a tenth of what many people on here know, never claim to either. THAT is true arrogance.

Can't agree more. But I will say that with there only being a production cycle so far of only 2 years, there isn't THAT much info out there yet. Most modding being done on the V6's in the 5th gens isn't exactly parts that are being mass produced, nor is the experience there with anyone that has torn them down. Its literally a handful. Id say give it some time, and we could start seeing that shift. Now to get these people here is going to be an act of god. I know Robert would be up for expanding on the encyclopedia, but not sure where Steve lies on the subject.

Not going to happen. I only added the 3.4 because it was in a 4th Gen.

I'll explain this AGAIN - the messageboard (@camarov6.com) was NEVER the main intent of this SITE - it was an add-on to the Tech Database (@firebirdv6.com) which WAS the main intent. Many people don't post - don't have to when there is a "search" to find tech info on the board.

I didn't even WANT a messageboard after being on them on other sites. Too many whinny *****es. It never was what we're all about.

These sites (F/CV6.com) are, and will remain, for the 3.4 and 3.8 Series II 4th Gen F-body's - period. I don't care about the 5th Gen - which looks like crap anyway.
