    Re: Oil survey

Valvoline SynPower is the oil I prefer, though I'm going to be trying some redline next change. As for filters, I go with whichever one on the shelf has an anti drain back valve.

Oil & Filter = Whatever is on sale.

I always go with the K&N air filter just so I can have a clean filter anytime I want.

Since I'm a dealer for it and it's sweet Amsoil and WIX filters...plus I get it for cheaper than what any other half decent synthetic sells for :)

spinning the bearing had nothing to do with the oil. highly unlikely.

penzoil (sp?) and Purolator classic oil filter.

I'm thinking of trying castro x or Next gen as they are cheaper, its under $18 bucks at my local autozone for 5 quarts of Castro X plus a Purolator Classic filter.

I always change my oil between 3k-5k miles, changed the oil 3 days before it happened. I did race a guy but I don't take it above 5k. I'm not really too hard on the car either because its my dd and its hard to afford to fix the thing when it breaks. But I could be wrong, I bought the car with a re-built title and the upper intake has 96 painted on it. No telling what kind of abuse the car got before me.

true, but still theres no hard evidence for the oil to cause that kind of damage. I worked in a shop where that was all we used and put it in many customers cars that had never previously used it. we never had any issues!
