That's it in the Constitution. Whether you are religious or not you are free to choose.

As Per I said before. " You have freedom OF Religion. You do not have freedom FROM IT." I love to have freedom from Zionist pigs, Liberals, and Cobra owners. But I can't put limits on THIER liberties for MY pursuit of happiness.

<<The First Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,...>> Which means that if you believe in the Easter bunny, its none of the governments business and they will not endorse your belief in it.

<<or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.">> This means that they will not interfere in your belief of the Easter bunny.

As a person who's experienced religious persecution first hand, I say keep religion in the home and place of worship. Otherwise you end up with intellectual midgets that believe the world is 5000 years old and that humans used to ride dinosaurs to work, running your life and planning your future for you. Look at the stupidity of not allowing stem cell research, which could end up saving people's lives. It really wasn't that long ago that these same people were burning witches.

Maybe we could educate people on religion, expose them to different religions and ideas. Also maybe educate people like you that spout uneducated assumptions about people that dont believe in stem cells. You look uneducated and closed minded to them.(for the record I am for stemcell research)

We don't have to believe in the same things.but maybe understand why people do. I just think its funny how "free thinkers" don't want people to learn more about the thing that shaped the history of mankind.

You need to convince yourself. It's so plain. No need for rhetoric when the truth speaks for itself.

Well said there. I don't think I can add more to that.

                  Re: July 4th Thoughts

It wasn't until religion stopped killing people for having free ideas that science and technology really began. Look how far we've come in the last 300 years. For thousands of years before this time, human learning and understanding of the world was limited to what was "safe" to study. What wouldn't get you killed. Some things were forbidden as god's work and so learning moved at a snail's pace. In this day and age, a billion muslims will tell you the earth is flat. Buddhists will tell you they will be reborn as another life form.Jews believe that they're god's chosen people.Who's right? They can't all be right. It's like arguing which of the Super Friends is the most powerful. I say Super Man, you say wonder woman.
Show me one religion that doesn't have blood on its hands and I will gladly teach it to my children.
We owe our long lives and medicines to science. I'm in my mid 40's and would have been considered an old man just 150 years ago.
I really don't care if bubba six pack thinks I sound uneducated. I may not be into all that fancy book learnin' but I know reality from fantasy.

Archy bunker put it best when he said,"Meathead, faith is when you believe in something that no one in their right mind would believe".
Since christianity is what I grew up with, I will end off some some of the wonderful gems of wisdom that I've gotten from the clergy when asking questions of faith.
We cannot understand the mind of god.
God gave humans free will, that's why we have murderers and wars.
Ours is to follow and not to understand.
God does things for his own reasons.
and my all time favorite...God made hell for kids that ask those kinds of questions.

That's a poor argument. Many of the scientists back then were Priests. From Astronomy, Studying the Human Genome, Genetist, Medicine, Mechanics, Science, and such: Nicolaus Copernicus, Gregor Mendel, Georges Lemaître, Albertus Magnus, Roger Bacon, Pierre Gassendi, Roger Joseph Boscovich, Marin Mersenne, Francesco Maria Grimaldi, Nicole Oresme, Jean Buridan, Robert Grosseteste, Christopher Clavius, Nicolas Steno, Athanasius Kircher, Giovanni Battista Riccioli, William of Ockham

Columbus broke that and he's a down to earth Christian. BTW.. no where in the Bible or Koran did it teach that the world was flat. That's a human error.

Ahhh, science also perfected mass killing. There's more killing in the 20th century than all of the Centuries combine since the time of Christ. And yes, you have science to thank for that. But that's besides the point and you are WAY OFF on the topic. another poor argument on your part.

BTW... Avengers are more powerful than Super Friends. ;)

I've been out of the country for the past 7 days now due to family matters and I won't be able to respond to you guys.

Because liberal teachers in Colleges and High Schools are not teaching it right. One atheist professor (who's name I don't remember anymore) said Deists in 1947 and the next thing you know this lie has spread to all of our schools, except for the traditional schools who are not afraid to teach the truth - because the word God and Jesus were prohibited everywhere else. Just like those idiot lawyers who love using the words: Separation of Church and State - which they say is in the Constitution.

I'm DONE and I'm out. I've said my peace.

What you all have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent responses were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

That would be great, except that if my christian fundamentalist step-daughter or her husband were to do that they would be damned to Hell. Had that discussion already. They keep trying to "save" us.
