Love my iPhone 4

Ive been without a working cable modem since Sunday, and because I simply don't have time to get a new one till Thursday, Ive been using this goofy phone as a personal WiFi, for both my iPad, and my desktop PC. Internet speed is slower, but very capable of doing what I need it to do. Makes me wonder why I keep giving Comcast money every month like I do.

We just moved into our new fraternity house and we don't have internet in the house yet, so I've been using my non-3G phone as a modem to the computer and it works brilliantly as well. A little slower, but pretty darn quick for 1X, I think.

But yeah, as long as you don't use over 4 gigs of data a month, it might be worth dropping the internet and saving however much per month.

AGREED. I have the old iphone 3G. How do you do this Wes? I am one of those old customer who has unlimited data too :). So I can def. use this feature.

Serious I hate comcast with passion. BIGGEST customer raping monopoly business they do. Every 3 months they increase their pricing ugh! I mean, I still have to keep them because of my website but If I need to create a wifi spot with my iphone, how do I do it?

X2 I just got the new Bold Touch 9900. I would put my pay cheque on the fact that it is faster than the iphone...

Im not sure if its a phone thing or a software thing with iOS, but there is an option in the Settings on the phone for Personal Hotspot. It uses the phone as a hotspot, with a half assed WP2 key and all. But I also have an option fro AT&T as a tether, which I think can only be done by AT&T and Verizon (non-jailbreak). But in order to get the tethering, I had to give up my unlimited plan, and go for the 4gig a month, which I barely dent anyway.

Browsing speed when my phone when tethered is no different, almost the same speed. I couldn't game from it, but whatever else works fine. I watch alot on Hulu and Netflix, and I used the phone for the better part of this week as both a tether and a hotspot to do that, and it works fine for me, little slow and I have a little more buffering, but I can deal with it.

But I use the phone as a tether to the computer, and a hotspot for the iPad. I did run both for a short time using the phone with 2 connections, but if I got a text or a phone call, it was almost guaranteed to lock up both the iPad and the computer connections.

Blackberries are ****ing archaic. And that 9900 has just a hair faster processor, but isn't that impressive considering the iPhone 4 is over a year older in design. The display, camera (both stills and video), simplicity, durability, and OS design go in Apple's favor. I have yet to see a Blackberry after a year that still had a working trackball. Id take full touchscreen controls, IDEAL for anyone that has smudged up filth on them all day. Physical QWERTY keys and trackballs are outdated, no one seemed to have told Blackberry that though.

iPhone with an Otter Box or Ballistic case > god himself. And wait till the I5 comes out.....;)

i got a letter the other day saying there may be a change in my billing due to me using tethering. my phones jailbroken i definitely wouldn't pay for it... guess i'll just ignore it until it shows up on my bill. then tell them the dog ate my phone

With a jailbroke 3Gs, you can tether internet with your unlimited data plan, I was doing it for over a year. Worked remarkably well. We would be on roadtrips and I would tether the laptop off my phone. I have the iphone 4 for about a year now and havent jailbroke it, nor have I tried tethering.

I had to renew my contract in July to keep my unlimited plan and settled on an iPhone 4. Originally wanted a 4G Android, but didn't like the current line up. My plan was to sell the iPhone once more 4g phones came out, but now I think I'm going to hang onto it for a bit longer.
