  • Straight up trade

Saw a 97 TA at Target today being driven by a girl. Really nice, mint condition. By sound of it it has some mods, esp. exhaust.

I notice she was a student at Cal State Fullerton, because of the sticker on her windshield. Her school is 34 miles from where we were. I complimented her on the car. She later said that the gas is killing her.

I showed her my V6 Bird and she likes it. She asked me about the gas mileage and I told I can get anywhere 27-31 depending how I drive on the HWY.

She asked me if I wanted a straight up trade?

Her TA has 80k while mine has 32k. I told her I would think about it.

Nothing wrong with an LT1, just because theres a faster car. If I was rolling a V6, and especially if its a 2.8, that 97 would be in my driveway stat. And thats coming from an LS1 guy. Always a faster car, still doesnt mean you shouldnt upgrade (assuming it is).

IMO, faster does not always equal better.

Sh*t I'd do it depending on the condition of the car. LT1>3.8. Period. It's not as great as an LSX, but the LT1 has a lot of performance parts available, and the LT1 Trans am's are SEXY AS HELL. I'd do it. Of course, depending on the over all shape of yours VS hers.

Actually Im in agreement. I believe you took my statement the opposite. I meant it as dont knock an LT1 just because there is a faster car, because there will always be a faster car. Yes, LS1 is better, but LT1 > 3.8 3.4 305 2.8 etc... And still doesnt make a 3.8 a POS.

I have a 2000 3.8 and a 94 Trans Am with an LT1. I would drop the Camaro in a heartbeat to daily drive my TA, but its got 40k..
