I'm glad we don't have toll roads here in AZ. I've never been on a road that has a toll, must suck.lol

I was stuck behind this guy doing 50 MPH and took him 5 miles to pass a semi, who was doing about the same speed, so when he finally got over I was like "GO!" lol, so I punched it and got pulled over haha. As far as the detector, its a Whistler, cant remember the model but I payed $170 for it at car toys a few years ago, it has saved my *** so many times, so It works, but didnt even pick up this time, even if he was using laser, it should have picked him up, it has before. Im just going to pay the ticket and be done, If I pay it in the next 20 days (which I am) 2 point will be taken off.

Man that really sucks. I hate when people won't pass and drive in the left.

Whistlers are on par with Cobra in my book. Their lower end models are better bang for buck than Cobra's lower end models. All in all though, Whistlers and Cobras are bottom tier detectors. They're a step above Chinese no-name detectors from eBay, that's it. I'm sure it works. Until a cop does something sneaky like instant-on or laser. Watch the vid I posted if you haven't already.
Laser is hard to pick up. Cops have to aim at a reflective surface like the front of your car (head lights, license plate, grill, etc..) The cop isn't aiming at your windshield and the beam is pretty narrow even as far as 2,000ft away. In testing I've seen detectors miss laser at under 1,000ft away quite frequently, even the nice models like the V1 which has amazing laser acquisition. Jammers are installed in the grill of your car so they're perfectly positioned to acquire laser, alert you and send their own signals out to jam.
I'm sure you've picked up laser before, that's not the issue. The issue is that you can't consistently do it and that's a fact of physics. Secondly what's the point of picking up laser if you can't jam it? Effectively it's just an alert telling you a cop just clocked your speed. The chances of picking up scatter off other cars are so slim it's not something you can rely on. I'm not saying everyone needs a jammer, but just saying that if you like to speed, you're not safe from laser, at all.

That's not a terrible deal and I'm sure it's enticing. I wouldn't do it though. Hiring a lawyer and getting it dismissed costs about the same, it isn't really all that difficult and it keeps your record clean. I outlined the benefits earlier, but you should do whatever you think is best. I'm not familiar with your jurisdiction, but you may be able to talk to the judge and ask to have him defer your charge by letting you take a class or a 'probation period' where you can't get any more tickets for X months. That will also keep things off your record.
I haven't had points on my lic. since 1998, so I'm doing pretty well. LOL

Yeah, when I bought it I didnt know much about detectors, but for being a low end detector, its more then payed for itself. Its just not worth hiring a lawyer, as I dont have the money. Im trying to build a motor and get my transmission rebuilt on top of bills so moneys tight. Just paying it and taking 2 points isnt a bad deal in my book. But when you speed you take that risk and my attitude is I got caught so Ill pay it and be done, you know?

Yea I understand where you're coming from. My first detector was a Cobra so I'm definitely not trying to talk down to you because of your choice in detectors. Just trying to educate where I can since I'm pretty active in that whole scene :-).
As for the lawyer stuff, as I said I don't know how it is where you live. I would check it out though. You may find lawyers cost similar to the cost of the ticket, so it's not really a money issue if you can afford the ticket. Also taking a class should be a viable option.
Either way you get punished. It's just up to you where your money goes :). I prefer to pay the lawyers instead of the state. It's cheaper in the long run ;-).
Good choice, the 995 is a solid unit. I've tested it before. Not bad at all! I recommend these as an entry level unit for people upgrading from cheapo detectors like Cobras and Whistlers, etc, but aren't ready to drop the cash on a ultra high end unit. The only disadvantage is the M4 platform that it's based on which is a bit slower than the S7 platform the older units used. The M4 has longer range, but isn't as quick to pickup a new signal. It's a matter of preference though, because some people prefer the longer range, while I prefer the quick response times.
I agree. I think I would rather have a little quicker response than range, but I don't know anything about platforms really. I just read a bunch of reviews before getting one, and this one seemed to get really good reviews without being $400+
btw.... if your doing 20+ over.... the 995 i have won't help much, cuz you don't get that much warning. plus 20+ over is just too unsafe for me
Still trying to find oil leak on my Camaro, it’s a tough one. I think it is the oil pressure sender myself. Leaking when raving and going into boost....
