  • I think I'm getting old.

I have seem to lost my need for speed. I kinda just want a show car that sounds nice to cruise around on nice days. I think I'm really just getting tired of modding a 6 too..

Another employee rolls up in a foxbody mustang with like a 351 or something in it.. I dunno which engine exactly.. But the car was spotless and sounded amazing. The engine bay looks like a lot of work has gone into it already too. He said he bought it for 6k with like 70k miles. That's how much I paid for my car before even modding the damn thing. Made me sick.

Re: I think I'm getting old.

Ive lost my itch to hit the track for fear of breaking something, but not my need for speed. Im always browsing parts and stuff for sale and thinking of little things I can do. I couldnt trade this car for anything though...the attention this thing gets...at a minimum of once a week I get atleast one person who will come talk to me about the car...it just makes everything Ive done feel that much sweeter

I'm the same way, just want a crusier for events, but still have the nitrous there for fun.

as soon as i start feeling that way or frustrated with any of my rides i just do a small touchup or change or simple mod that will rejuvenate my pride...go get your hands dirty!

im kind of at a crossroads myself right now, if i get the job im up for currently then i'm most likely going to sell the ballermaro or at least strip it down and switch to a black SS and start over with a build :naughty:

I think you just need to turn up the boost. :P

You turbo'd that thing a couple years ago and are still at 8psi, right? We all get bored of our cars at times. Give yours a nice detail or buy an appearance item you've had your eye on. Nothing wrong with having a car that looks nice and can still be fun. Sometimes you just have to change it up a bit.

Re: I think I'm getting old.

I need to find some front facing headers at a good price, I'm sick of hearing my exhaust leaks and not being able to tune it better than it is due to those leaks. Maybe I'll save up and get the windows tinted at least.

I do have a grille on it now I like a lot. Painted an old one and ziptied it on lol.. I still can't get over that, that's how most aftermarket grilles are suppose to be mounted.

I'll post up some pics here later because I haven't shown you guys yet either.

Re: I think I'm getting old.

I owned my '96 for over 5 years and I just got tired of having a slow v6 and it seemed everything I did to it didnt improve anything. Was frustrating... So a deal came up with my Lemans, guy needed a daily, I wanted something new with a v8 and we traded. :D

Now I'm working on getting my 3rd gen going for a daily driver(which i'm very close) and then gonna start working on a Pontiac 6.6 for my Lemans.

I'm happy with the route I'm going, I just like v8's better than anything else. The '96 was actually an afterthought since I was in a bind and had recently lost my GTA(1st car) and the '96 was cheap so I jumped on it.

Point is, if you're just plain tired of your car, look for THE car you really want if it's not what you have now. :)

I had my car for almost 16 years and I never get tired of it. Of course I do some modding now and then on it.

I tried mounting them a "more permanent way" by adding screws and stuff and not using zipties.. then when I got into my accident it popped off and someone ran over it. should have trusted the old faithful zip ties after all.

Re: I think I'm getting old.

I cant wait to get home, 5spd swap, suspension rebuild, cam swap, then maybe a little nitrous, and I'll be done. Then it's on to my dunebuggy beast build.

I may get tired of modding a V-6, but I will never get tired of building a VW. For less than the price of the car itself I can build an engine that will put a vw deep in the 13's.

That's sweet. I have a neighbor here that's a VW nut. He has 2 bugs and another one that looks like a classic porche, forgot the name. I think Carmengia something like that.

He checks out my Firebird once and in awhile and he likes the style. You should post pics of yours.

I like my cars. I've had a V8 benz before and 89 GTA. My 99 V6 bird will eat my former GTA for lunch. But you know you do get tired of driving the same car. You can literally get used to it and predict how it will run.

In other words, you can get bored with just about anything. I am way older now and I take pride in what I have. Heck I even like the 2.8 and it runs good when it runs. Like Sheryl Crow said, it's not wanting what you don't have, it's wanting what you do have.

Whats your 99 v6 got for mods? I already know my 89 bird is faster than my old stockish 3.8. And my 89 is also stockish... :D

That shouldn't be the case. I know I have ran down 305/350 tpi birds before...
