I have this and I always wonder if there are any advantages in turning that thing on?

Re: Does anybody ever use their 2nd gear switch?
I'm pretty sure its just to prevent wheel spin in slippery conditions. I have a car that was not equipped with that.Team NoVa

Re: Does anybody ever use their 2nd gear switch?
My car has only been driven in the rain about 15 times, but I have used it. I just don't really see the point in using it. If you're careful on the throttle it accomplishes the same thing, really. In America's Hat!

if I have to make a left turn in heavy traffic in really wet roads or snow I use it...it definetly helps.

Re: Does anybody ever use their 2nd gear switch?
Eh, I've found it to be pretty useless. It was rainy and slippery enough that I tried using it making a left turn onto a busy road from a stop sign one time, and still spun quite a bit. I felt that it was no different than just using less throttle, so it has stayed off since.
Interesting tid bit- My dad's Lincoln LS has a permanent second gear start enabled unless you push the throttle past half or so from a dead stop.
