snow tires, especially studded make a world of difference.
if you don't agree then obvious you don't have a real winter where you are.
at times the highways here could be coated with a sheet of ice.. I would LOVE to see you on summer tires anywhere where i am from during the winter.
x3
we don't have studded over here cause it's illegal, but snow tires sure as hell make a difference. There are brutal days where a lot of guys get stuck over here and I have to really play with the car to get her to go... on summer tires or all seasons??? not a chance...
^^and that's driving...have you ever tried stopping in the snow with all seasons/summer tires and then tried stopping with winters?? world of difference...I always shake my head when the guys with 4wd say they don't need winter tires...you're cars 4-wheel drive, not 4-wheel stop (yes technically all 4 wheels stop:slap:) but that is not going to cut your stopping distance down like a good winter tire will...
I'll tell you this, my car modded with winter tires feels about 1000x safer than my dads 2004 camry on the brand new All-seasons he bought last year when the snow hit...My car bit the snow harder, stopped faster, handled night and day difference better, and felt a million times safer...and he has ABS, I don't....you could feel the tires slipping on that car under conditions that my car wouldn't, on the same road, same conditions, same day.
And the Camry isn't a sh*tbox of a car either, I bet you it weighs almost the same as our camaros to boot...so fair comparison...
One more post to go and im only 9463 away from his count!
Your catching up, time to post more.LOL

I love snowboarding but I like to go to the snow, not have the snow come to me.
I also plan on going through the camaro and fixing every little leak and changing all fluids and just going allow out on it so its show ready next spring.

I can't wait to move out of Colorado period. I'm tired of 10 months of solid winter and 2 months of Summer meaning is like 90 outside with 100% humdity and year round construction.
You can't own anything nice here because driving conditions don't permit. But if your ken block you'd fit right in. Thats why we have so many damn Subarus out here.
90 degrees and 100% humidity in Colorado? As well as 10 months of winter and 2 months of summer? Colorado cant wait for you to leave either.

Tell me why the hell was early september so damn hot? It was 90+ for the first couple of weeks. I remember regreting the fact I pulled my airconditioning unit out the window early!
I disagree with this 100%...Hankook I-Pike's ftw...I've had em on my car and driven through 5 winters with them...Ive been stuck 3 times total and that was because where I parked formed ice under the tires and the moment I put the car in drive the tires spun. OH, and that was prior to LSD being installed...since LSD, no issues.
I've driven in about 6-8 inches of snow on the roads with the car modded and been totally fine...only time I use SGS to is on left hand turns in busy traffic to be safe...
Out here we have a lot of hills~!
I mean a lot. I swear we should have been called Colorado Hills instead of Colorado Springs.
Heres an example of the crap I deal with around this time of year.
My Camaro even with snow tires will not stand up. My Dodge intrepid has snow tires and it was still slipping and sliding because of the ice and with hills it makes driving very unsafe. Thank God I haven't been in an accident but I've had very close calls not because of my driving skills but the damn road conditions.
Our roads even during summer time suck as is due to lack of maintaince and plenty of pot holes and during winter time they are even worst.
You guys probably got the wrong tires or just can't drive in general. I can drive just fine with normal tires but with snow tires it's much easier and I can keep up with any 4wd vehicle. lol, wanna drag race in snow? I guarantee you'd be in a ditch. Try and actually spend some $ on some tires other than the cheapest POS you can afford. Idiots.
When you come here to colorado and see how our roads are more suited for Ken Block than daily commuiting you'll see and be challenged.
Drag racing in the snow? Maybe with a Snowmobile but never in a car. I will never speed while its raining let alone snowing thats just dumb unless your getting chase by a Tornado or something along those lines. Even while storm chasing I keep things safe.
At least I got my Contour with new Tires but I need to fix my transmission before it gets here full force.
Funny, I look forward all summer for the winter months top down weather... :excited:
