agreed, hell even find an older one souped up for half the price and twice the power. If i had 49,000 to spend i could make my dream diesel with $20,000. Plus you can build a full size diesel truck to keep up or beat z28's and still be steetable and turn around an pull a camper :)

lol, I'm not sure what people have against diesels. They run forever, get better mileage and make TONS more power. Coming from a small town/farming community I don't appreciate diesel drivers being called "dumb hillbillies". People on here can mod their camaros but diesel owners can't mod their trucks without being called a 'dumb hillbilly'?

I love Chevy, always a soft spot for them in my heart and yes that's my 2002 SLP SS I took out for a ride to row the six speed gearbox.

I know it's a hefty pricetag and yes the kit slaps $15,000 on it but it's might be my first and last truck I'll ever own, who knows.

Diesel trucks, I'm a complete newbie at both the power and mechanical aspects. Why do you say that particular Cummings engine lasts so long?

      Heineken beers forever...
if you want reliability and cheap mods (google) get a 12v cummins. If you just wanna plug n play programmer get a 24v. Injectors, exhaust, pump tuning and turbo work are enough to get a 12v to push 400 horse. and that would be around 800ftlbs torque or so

Theres a difference in tasteful modding and not so tasteful modding.
The ones I always see are pos's with no muffler.

They may make more power/tq but isnt it useless when they weigh like 10,000+ ibs? The people around here drive them like there a camaro or something and its dumb, imo. There not a race car, sorry. Actually, they're the new ricer to me. (the people I described)

Why a diesel? As I said, and I have lots of experience with 12 and 24 valve cummins engines, they will only barely be broken in at 100k miles. They produce way more power. Get way better mileage. And aren't all that bad to work on really... as crazy train said, they aren't all dumb hicks. I come from a small farming town myself and im not a hick, nor am I dumb for that matter lol. Shoot ive considered doing a cummins camaro project. With just a few little mods and a programmer, I could be at 500 horsepower and 800-900 lb-ft torque. And id smoke most anything. Diesels get way more of a gain with mods too. For instance, a catback on a gasoline engine may give you realistically 8-12 horsepower. Putting exhaust on a diesel will give you 15-20 easily. Shoot id love to put a cummins I6 in my jeep....it'd be really fast, id be able to roast 35 inch super swampers with no problem.

You wont beat most anything in a 10k pound rig, sorry. Lol
Not when there's ls1's and most v8 cars making the same power at 3.5k pounds.

ignorance. It's funny, because I bet their trucks are faster than your car while weighing (not 10,000 these arent dump trucks) more around 6 or 7000 for a 2500. Your right, its not a race car, but neither is a v6 camaro. A cummins or any diesel rather can just do more work for a longer time than a gasser truck IMO.

Ls1 would hand that fool his *** with the same $$ tossed into it.
what does a stock LS run idiot? a bolt on ls1 would give it a run for it's money, but can you haul anything with a camaro? no. and besides this was mainly an argument on a gas vs diesel TRUCK. that 350 TPI of yours that makes 30 more horses than a v6 would have trouble beating our 3.8s let alone a turned up cummins. Hell when your car breaks down after the race the cummins can turn around and haul it home gettin 20mpgs. Just sayin ;)

My 350 wouldnt have any issues taking a v6 muchless the hillbillies around here. In fact, already have. :)

I've made my point. I'm not arguing on the net, it's pointless. Have a nice day.
