    Re: the lineup...

the whole argument over gas vs diesel is dumb. Diesel engines such as the cummins 5.9 respond very well to simple mods, and can make CRAZY power very easily. To each their own. And just like you can bolt some nitrous to a LS1 and make it run 10's, you can crank up the boost on a 24 valve and make it run 10's, then turn around at the end of the night and trailer the LS1 to the house.

As for calling the viper a stock car, well it may be. But last time I checked the 04 viper made 525 hp and 500 ft lbs of torque, and I think it made over 600 in like 2009, thats no slouch in my opinion. Should be able to hang with a truck that weighs 10,000 lbs as was stated previously...

exactly my point, and its true

350 hp roughly for a bolt on LS1 (roughly the same torque) to 3500lbs vs 600 and !1000! ft-lbs torque to about 6000lbs for a 2500 diesel cummins

camaro = .10 hp per pound and the same for torque.

diesel = .10 hp per pound, which is the same, honestly a bolt on ls and a modded diesel are gonna be fairly close HP to weight ratio. but where it matters is the torque numbers. These diesels make their peak torque down low below 2000rpm, so they launch like crazy, and hold fairly high numbers all the way to redline. this leaves the torque ratio at .166, which is a pretty big difference. Torque wins races.

don't try to convince him your right, because he wont accept it lol, he thinks he's right. and yea that viper probably makes close to what that diesel makes and weighs less than half. but its still stock right? so that doesnt matter. If i race my modded v6 camaro and beat a mustang GT it wouldnt be fair if it was 'stock'? wrong

Thanks acific. I mean to sum it up I may have exaggerated saying it would smoke my car...but my only point was to not underestimate turbo diesels.

              Re: the lineup...

Thanks flaming chicken! I like it too. Doesn't have much torque but you can certainly feel the rush once the turbo kicks in. Its pretty fast at that point. I like the paddle shifters and it has the autobahn package. Ill get some more pics of it up for you later lol.

I am a vw nut!! My buddy had a MKIV, 20th anniversary, K04 upgraded, APR tuned monster of a GTI. The damn thing would leave two 40 foot black marks, a little gap and two more 20 foot black marks no problem. Have you tuned it or anything?

                  Re: the lineup...

No the car is 100% bone stock. Id like to get R32 exhaust for it, and im fairly new to the vw scene so I haven't really learned the ins and outs yet. Im going to get the wheels powdercoated gunmetal face and black in the inserts. So far those are the only plans I truly have. Is there a cold air intake that doesn't require me to lose the engine cover? Also this is my first boosted car I've ever owned so that's also a learning experience for me as well.

When you come back from korea you should come to fort Lewis. Then you could show me the ins and outs of vw and stuff. :P

I am set to leave Korea in january, and my branch manager is still pulling my chain. Will not give me a duty station. I asked her for one on the east coast somewhere, or Fort Carson, and she keeps telling me there is nothing. Less than 90 days out and she cant tell me crap. Gah I hate civilians working military jobs, they have this unearned since of power...

Yeah they can be fast but so can honda's. It's the people that cutoff there exhuasts and act all bad as if they got something just like, guess what? Ricer's. That annoys me. Those are nothing but bored and hillbilly people.

I got no problem with a tastefully modded anything. If its fast and doesnt look or sound stupid its all good. ;)

If you knew anything about diesels then you'd know there arent muffler chioces like cars. Its basicaly you get a turbo back and bigger size with a straight through diesel muffler, or put some pipe in place of the stock one. Or get stacks :D
