been that way for years over here now...it cleans up the atmosphere inside and lets people breathe easier...you want to smoke? go outside on the patio...no big deal really...
bar and grilles are family oriented, but usually the bar section is more segregated from the seating area...I honestly haven't really ever seen kids running around the bars around here.
Secondly, over here I believe after 11pm (if its not 11pm it's 9pm) no one under 19 is even allowed in the bars.
I guess I'm just old-fashioned and miss the good ole' days where there was a designated "bar section" that would be a kid-free zone. I also miss the days where real bars would be 21+, serve pretzels and popcorn and have to tase the patrons regularly. Now even these places allow kids to sit at the bar, and serve booze to obviously expecting mothers.
2- smokers rights....the only rights that should go with that is smoking at your house or on your property unless a friends invites you to smoke at their place...
it's like texting and driving....your not just pulling your life at risk.

i agree.
also if you want to smoke and hang at a bar, try going somewhere other than applebees and go to a real bar or a pool hall or something.
I have a better idea. How about you let the bar owners decide if they want to have smoking allowed in their establishment rather than some government entity. If people are in there smoking and you don't like it, STAY THE **** OUT. Who are you to say who can and can't smoke in whatever establishment? You don't own it, you don't pay the bills. You believe because you go into Applebee's once a month for a **** burger it gives you the right to ***** and complain about a non-smoking atmosphere. It doesn't. You don't own the place, hence you can keep you mouth shut and eat your ****burger, or you can not go into Applebee's. It's that ****ing simple.

How dare you push your beliefs and values onto an establishment you don't own. Gotta be one of the most audacious things I've ever seen.

I gotta say I never understood the "come in and control things attitude" that the smoking bans embody. I smoked for quite some time before I quit, but I would never consider teling somebody what they can or can not allow in their own establishment. If you dont like smoke stay away from bars that allow smoking. At the bar I frequent, before the ban they had a full on ventilation system and half the time you couldnt even tell people were smoking. Nobody forces you to go into a smoke filled bar.
Now is that to say that if I dont like crying children when im at dinner that they should be banned from the resturant? According to the logic being used here that would be a yes. Personally that kind of thing drives me insane, I chose to not have kids a for a reason, but unlike the people that wanted to ban smoking I will not force parents to stop taking there children places. And because i know someone will draw the no health risk from children card, I beg to differ, my hearing takes a hit everytime some little brat decides to scream at the top of their lungs right behind me.

I was gonna post something similar to this but Wes just about sums it up for me too. Next thing you know is the gov. is gonna be doing the hiring and firing for businesses too. It's bull****, plain and simple.

Let's just ban children in general. They're a strain on my mental health, and apparently that holds weight in a court room too.

I don't have a problem about bar owners deciding on their own. But Applebee's, Chillis, etc are all advertised as "family friendly" restaurants
I've got a simple solution. Carry out. If it hurts the business that they allow smoking then they can make it no-smoking. It should be their decision, not the governments. Hell, while we're at it we should ban people from eating fast food! Especially the fat ones.

just changed a few words there...see it works both ways.
the smoking bill is as bad as speaking about religion...just shouldn't cause no one will win
I see what you're doing there Kristen. The point is, the gov. made the decision for the business owners rather than letting the owners decide how their business operates.
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
