Depends on what you're looking for, cost or service. I think a good balance is best.

Get quotes online and compare them to your local agents.

Cost preferably. Which would be the easiest way to go about getting it? Going around to agents or online quotes?

I would get quotes from agents so you know exactly how much it is.

try geico, allstate, or progressive. get quotes from all 3 and go with whichever one sounds best to you.

State Farm was good when I had them. Progressive is usually cheaper for me for some reason.

Progressive is the cheapest ive ever found, for myself. Plus their claim process is as easy as it gets.

Check out some of your local insurance agencies too. Sometimes they can provide better service for the same (or better) price.

Never ever go local. I've heard nothing but horror stories. Always go for big insurance companies that's not going to close down, forge signatures, run out of money or bail out on you.

x2 I went with a local company in florida. I live in Ohio. They had really great rates for me at the time, but just cancelling the automatic insurance payments was a HUGE pain in the *** and they were jerks about it. I got rid of them after a year cause I can only imagine what I'd have to go through if I had to make a claim.

You really just have to go and have conversations with authorized agents. Discuss everything that needs to be discussed, talk about your car, how nice it is, how nice you keep it, your driving habits, where it's parked, etc. etc.

In time and research you will find a good fit.
