  • Speed Channell's Pass Time "AGAIN" p. II

Please somebody here tell me that they watched this show TONIGHT!!!!

Harry Dolittle's 2002 Firebird V6 was on the show and this time I took notes he he he.

I remember this was the same Bird that got Dolittle a 11.7 sec. in the track. No Juice, no SC, and no TC. All engine baby!!!

The car was driven by Leroy McKoy. I think the reason why it was him instead of Dolittle was because Dolittle stutters when he talks.

Ok, McKoy said that the Firebird has 270hp which I don't know if he was referring to the wheels or the crank. A 5.13 gear and a stock engine block. But I saw an L32 decal on top of the hood.

When the Firebird did a burn out Ken Herring said that it sounded like a rotary engine. LOL The car did 12.32 1/4 mile and I think it was 110mph or 112mph.

It was the only none crate engine with no power adders and the only V6 in that show of course. I never felt so proud to see our little engine do so good.

Could he really be from Wickenberg, AZ now?

    The race stats say so.

I would like to see his runs too.

Is he still into V6? Last I heard that he's racing with a V8.

1996 saw Harry with yet another new race car, a 1997 Firebird convertible with Buick V-6 power. Racing and updating this car through 2002, Harry nailed down 10 more NHRA National class wins. His current car is 2002 Firebird coupe, again with a Buick V-6 engine. With this car, Harry set a National Record that has proved to be the quickest e.t. ever run by a normally aspirated V-6 Stock class drag car at 12.53 seconds. He has also amassed 12 more NHRA National class wins, and 2 NHRA Stock Eliminator Semi-finalist spots (Las Vegas & Joliet, IL.) with this Firebird. Harry Doolittle is regarded by most as "thinking man's" drag racer, a route he cannot escape with his engineering and industrial management educational background.

You don't have the money to copy a Stock Eliminator build. Baleee dat. You would be much better served copying the old Abbot N/A build. Went 12.50's with much less work than an Stock Eliminator. FWIW, to be competitive in Stock Eliminator, you need to spend THOUSANDS of hours searching for the right components from a pile of stock parts, then massaging (within the rules). It's a tough class.

You're right. I was just day dreaming. I got one too many cars already.

Too bad Abbot let their V6 bird go though even though they are still making cams and other parts for it. Norton is doing well though with his V6.

Seriously, go the Abbott route. Would be cool to see a low 12 n/a v6 that isn't Harry.
